I dont think so. They both have the same 2.72:1 gear ratio. I could be wrong though.

Did you swap the output shafts already?

yea man, they are good. i got to looking and the front seal was messed up. one of the springs in it was rubbing on the bearing in there, causing the "clicking" sound.. (i think)

i got it man, napa hooked me up with one.

but there is an internal problem, its not engaging in 4wd the whole way. im going to have to take it somewhere to get checked out.

BUT i did get to run it a little bit in 4LO and holy hell its a tank

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

i got thinking.. there isnt much inside the tcase to mess up.

what about the 3 vacuum lines on it? would they affect it?

its almost like it wont fully go into 4wd. and when it does, it pops out.
what gives?

Vacuum lines shouldnt have nothing to do with it. Maybe the shifter motor is going bad or something.

just to catch myself up, tim, are you using a 231 now or just parts from a 231 on your 233? if its a 231, sounds like the linkage could be out of adjustment. the vaccum lines just control the stock actuator, they do nothing to effect the way the t-case works other than seal a hole.

no, im using the 233C with the 231J front output shaft on it.

so it may be my electric motor bad then, since it shouldnt be the vacuum?

ok, i simply think my electric motor is "out of time" not letting it engage in 4LO the whole way, i tested out just 4HI today, and its holding up fine! and climbing hills with ease

Why don't you just EXPLAIN what you did while you wait for the rain to stop.

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

ok, that works.
first, i took the plastic cover off on the vac acuator. then you will see a rubber boot in there, you have to pull the boot up and out of the way, then you will be able to see under the washer in there. the washer is hooked to a shaft, take a cut off wheel and cut the boot&washer off the shaft. this will leave you with just the bottom (metal) pat of the vacuum housing. next i took my grinder and cut that off (down as close to the cast part as i could.
) pulled it off. so now all that you have where the vacumm actuator used to be is a metal shaft. i then welded a washer on the end of it, just to make it easier to pull out & push in.

Pulled out is in 2wd, pushed in is 4wd. i use a RC car body clip to hold it out, in 2wd. and am going to rig up a spring of some sort to hold it in 4wd.

ill have to get pics when its done raining. sounds pretty confusing

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

ok, well i got an update.

the truck is pretty much done, finally got my springs figured out. i just need rear shocks, and shorten the rear drive shaft.

pissed with the springs today, up front i got a XJ main, Fullsize chevy main below that, and 2 zr2 springs on the bottom.

as for flex, ill let the pics show you!

so i think its getting there, i went for a little trail ride to test it out, since i havent driven it since i bought my rocket.

whatta ya think?
