Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

well, got an update, but not a good one. was headin to a party tonight in the woods, and got stuck. i hoped out of my truck to hook up a chain to get pulled up the hill. i happened to look down and seen the ground glowing, look under my truck and there is a fire! wish i would of left it burn, but i put it out with my hand and a lil bit of snow. i think it was tranny lines leaking onto the exhaust. didnt look at it yet since i have to be to work in 4 hours. anyway i might be gettin a 5 speed for it?

P.S. my cell phone broke tonight too! what i great night

Why do you wish you left it burning?

I think you should finish your S10. Then you'll have one project finished instead of three that are unfinished

spicer gears are by far the best IMO. they beat any aftermarket gear set.

hm. depending on how much this d. pitman arm will drop my drag link. do you think i could Z the drag link? or would that not be a good idea?

I wouldn't suggest putting a Z into your current drag link. One because it'll be too short once you Z it. Two a Z link can give you a good amount of bump steer especially since yours is a DD. If it was a trail only rig I would say go for it. My suggestion is still to do crossover steer and MAKE your own drag link like I'm doing.

alrightly, i wasnt sure about that, so i figure id ask! so im thinkin my tie rod & drag link should be pretty damn parallel after i get the cross over on

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

I'm NOT doing a drop pitman arm. I'm not doing one because if the drag link is too low with crossover steer it MAY hit the leaf springs OR the Ubolts/spring plate of the leaf springs. So I have a stock pitman arm from a YJ for right now. When the swap is done I'll do some measurements to see if I can do a drop pitman arm.
Thats just something to consider

if you are going to have the diff apart, you might as well replace everything, bearings, seals, etc. dont forget the inner axle seals.
