Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Wow you all got busy today. I appreciate everyone's concern for my safety in rolling the truck over. I do plan on putting slightly longer shackles on it to get a better angle, I just had the stock ones so I just used them to save a little money for the time being. I'm thinking like 1-1.5" over stock, anyone have suggestions?
And yes tfpets there IS a bushing in the shackle hangers. Those are shackle mounts from SKY. |

The deal may be sealed when I need them if I get promised some of the little rivet on logos. I could put one on my hood as a hood ornament like old Cadillacs used to do

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Those shackles would work, I put 3 inch drop shackles for a 1/2 ton chevy. they work great. i had the same extreme shackle angle you have and as soon as i put the longer ones on there, it corrected the problem.

![]() ![]() Here are the pics of my shock mounts like I promised. Like i said, I don't like them and need to change them. Now with that said, you can obviously tell where the shocks run into coil buckets. Hooray!! ![]() and here are my shackles for you viewing pleasure. hope it helped. oh and excellent choice on front springs. ![]() |

tfpets: It didn't take long. I think it was like 5 or 6 business days. The shipping was really good.
Lifted2wd: What did you do for a front drive shaft? I'll be needing one soon. Also how much longer over stock are your front shackles? Last edited by Baggey22 : 03-05-2008 at 03:30 PM. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
So I know Tim did a PTO drive shaft for his swap, what did/are other people doing? I'm hoping to get this done by the end of the month so that when "mud season" starts I'll be ready.
Yes in Vermont we have mud season, it's amazing. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
You need to wander out my way, the Connecticut river floods into all the local farm fields. Makes for some fun water fording and mud slinging fun! When I first got my truck I went through a farm field so full of water that it was coming over the hood. I was surprised I didn't hydrolock the engine with the ghetto air filter and stock fan setup Had to go through it to get to the mud - it was hella fun. My brother tried in his Cherokee and got stuck the day before when there was less water. He attempted to that day but it wouldn't make it far enough. That's when I decided it might actually be worth it to put some money into the truck.Last edited by ChrisInVT : 03-06-2008 at 01:51 PM. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
tfpets: yes we do where do you live? that would be sweet.
baggey: ![]() ![]() ![]() My front shaft is basically a modified jeep front shaft. It has 1310 u joints like a jeep, but i had my driveshaft guy build it with .120" wall tubing and he put a full size bronco slip yoke in there. it extends out a little more than the jeep unit. And my shackles are 6.5" long bolt center to bolt center. Like i said i used chevy lowering shackles and lopped the bottom set of holes off so they are not quite as long as they could have been. as far as how much longer, just measure the ones you have and note the difference. |

I had the same drive shaft you do Tim. How did you get it out of the T case? Mine wouldn't come out easily so we just cut it and said "F it I'll do it later"

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Anyone know if I can take that out and put like a yoke into it?
And Tim if you got rid of the retaining clip how is it gonna stay in there with the new drive shaft? Also I know when I pulled the rear drive shaft out of the transfer case Tranny fluid leaked out a lot. Will anything leak out without the front in? Last edited by Baggey22 : 03-07-2008 at 10:26 AM. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
no nothing will leak out the front. i am putting a set screw in it, i dont think that clip is that strong to hold it on. and you can get a 231 case and swap the front output shafts so you can put a yoke on it. if this way doesnt work that is what im going to do |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
So I can just grab a yoke from a junk yard S10 with the 231? So I'll just look for an S10/Blazer with a manual shift transfer case. Thats awesome, can anyone second what Tim said just so I'm sure

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
It's not that I don't trust what you say, I just want more input than one person. Nothing personal.
If that is the case, anyone have any extras? Or can get one easily and cheap? The junk yards here are covered in ice and snow so it's hard to get parts and off road season starts REAL soon. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
ive got a small pile of s10 parts just wasting space in my garage, including the 231 that came out of my s10. too bad your a country away.
the fixed yoke may swap over to the 233 case, or it may not. i dont think i was the one that told tim, at least i dont remember doing so. |
