Real daylighters. IIRC they have 100w bulbs. I'm actually sending them back to KC on factory warranty because the reflectors rusted. So I'll be getting some brand new daylighters back.

How are those LTB's holding up on the street? I really like the tires, wish they came in a radial. thats the only thing that keeps me thinking not to buy them and just get the TSL radials.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
ah, ok. is there anypoint in trying to balance them? Im considering the 31x11.50 for my blazer, but maybe down the road i can get the 34's after about another 8-10" of lift when diversified Creations comes out with their kit for then non zr2.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Why wouldn't you balance them?
You can always dynamically balance them. I did this with my 33's, but above 50 I get a bad shake, I don't think I put enough BBs in |

I plan on doing dynamic balancing. I just require someone that has done it before to help me.

It just hasn't seen much driving yet. Since the swap I've MAYBE put 50 miles on it. Now that it has shocks I'll drive it more. So I'll let you know later how the LTBs are doing.

It just bolts right up. Nothing to figure out. The only difference is the pitman arm faces forward instead of backwards.

You dont have to changes belts or anything cause your just replacing the steering box. Theres not even a belt going to it.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
question: So like I said a page or two back I've been thinking about switching over to full synthetic transmission fluid. My question is how do you drain the transmission? Also should I replace the filter? If so how do I do that? I'm going to have access to a garage for another few days in like a week and a half so if I have time I'll do the transmission.

Take off the tranny pan. You might as well change the filter while you do it. It right there as soon as you drop the pan.

I can envision this making a HUGE mess. Anything else I should look for/do while I have the pan off? Besides changing the filter.

Put a drain plug on your pan if you want... But just get a new filter and gasket...

It's not that bad changing the tranny fluid in my truck, yours should be 10x easier since it's so much higher in the air. Just remember to wipe all the metal shavings out of the pan before you put it back on.

Only problem is that a large amount of the old fluid is in the torque converter and you won't get that out by droping the pan.

Yeah I was thinking that. How the hell do you get all the fluid out??Get it flushed with synthetic?? That would probably be expensive as hell though. I wanna do the same thing, but im not spending a shit ton of money or dropping the trans to do it. |

Haha....I figured that. Maybe I'll just do some fresh fluid and a shift kit so it doesnt slip as much.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
but is it is actually slipping, a shift kit and fluid change might make it worse. on a good tranny , if you have not changed fluid for a while ,( daily driver every 30k , heavy wheeler every year !) you may have to change the fluid two or three times to get most of the old fluid out. make sure you take the lines loose and drain them out and clean them also. along with the radiator about the mess, most people dont have a pan 3x3 foot to catch all the fluid,, so , take you 30 gallon plastic trash can lid, drill 10 pencil sized holes in the middle, turn it upside down, and on top of your smaller drain pan, now you have drain system that can catch all the fluid . and it dint cost you a dime. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
How much fluid will stay in the torque converter? I know the transmission takes 5 quarts total, so should I just drop the pan and get like 3 quarts? Maybe I'll just wait and have it flushed with synthetic, I'll call and get a quote tomorrow

A tranny that is completely empty will hold nealy a case of fluid.

If your going to change it yourself that will probably be plenty, since you won't be able to get alot of it out.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I wonder if it would help to put more magnets in the pan, cause when I changed my fluid the magnet was completely covered in shavings to the point where it wasn't holding more, lol. Just a thought that came to mind, maybe throw 3 or 4 more magnets in the pan and it would attract more shavings and keep them out of the clutches and bands.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Just called the local mechanic, he told me that it would be $75 total to flush my transmission and refill it. I told him about how it's been shifting funny and hesitating to get into reverse and he said that a flush is an excellent idea to try and remedy that problem. So I think I'm gonna have it done soon. It's totally worth it.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
UPDATE: I'm heading back to Vermont on Saturday and on my way I'm meeting a guy in New Hampshire who's GIVING me a pair of bucket seats for my s10 (FOR FREE!!). Once they are in I can cut the hole in my floor and fab up my transfer case shift lever.
The seats DO come with the original seat sliders still attached. My question is what's the best way to get these seats INTO my s10? Anyone that has ever put different seats into their truck that has some insight would be EXCELLENT. |

open the door, take the seats out. Set your new seats in and mock them up. Most likely you will have to drill new holes to mount the new seats. atleast i did. THen drill your holes put seat back in and bolt them down. Wala!!!! Done!

I always like to mount them to the factory seat studs, that way if you are ever in a wreck they will remain attached to the floor instead of chasing you through the windshield. lol

As planned I picked up my bucket seats in New Hampshire yesterday. The guy said he had no idea what they were out of, but they have flat mounting brackets so mounting them should be easy. Plus, they were FREE!!
Here's pictures, anyone have any idea what they're out of? I'm thinking a Toyota but I really have no idea. ![]() ![]() |

Yea, I don't really care what they came out of. It's awesome cause they are really comfortable. In fact my buddy Justin was over my apartment tonight and he sat in the "driver's seat" the whole evening instead of the couch. He said he was more comfortable there.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Update: So I'm bringing Sally in tomorrow to the mechanic to do some things for me. First he's gonna flush the transmission. Then I'm gonna ask him to take a look at my brakes, they've been acting funny lately and I don't know why nor to I have the time to deal with it. I'm also gonna have him flush the radiator and replace the thermostat because, once again, I don't have the time to deal with it. So hopefully in a few days she'll be back in my driveway and I can drive it around more confidently and when I do have time upgrade things like the front axle and get those bucket seats in.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
The brakes in my truck are ****ed, I've replaced everything in it and they still suck. It'll lock up and drag both drivers side 33's, but won't brake the passenger side. Especially makes no sense considering there's only one line going to the rear brakes.
Brakes suck when they don't work correctly. |
