That is the same tread as what you'll be getting Chris.
Flex pix will be coming soon. I was thinking about taking the BL off, we'll see though. The lean is half the truck and half the driveway. It leans a little but it's not terrible. |

I haven't actually measured how much clearance I have. They do hang kinda low. I plan to move the frame mount and put a smaller shackle on it soon.

Sweet!
And I 2nd the body lift removal motion. Have you thought about putting the shackles on the front like Jeeps do? Those shackles do hang down very low. |

Putting the shackles on the front would require a lot of modification. Once I put the shorter shackles on it'll be better.

Baggey, whats your spring perch width? Is there any way you can inboard the shackles instead of putting them right underneath the frame?

Wow. I didnt think the Dana 30 had that wide of a perch width. Mine is at 31.5" CTC and thats fullwidth. Mine are also inboarded with the shackle about 2 inches up in the frame

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
second and first gen frames are not the same, but they are similar. the z frame however may actually be symmetrical side to side unlike the regular 4x4's.
wreckd, did you have to modify the frame at all to mount them higher? edit: also, YJ 30's have that perch width. CJ's do not, they are like 27". 70's ford, and chevy share the same width as well as scout and waggys, and dodge is just 1" wider at 32.5". 85-99 (or whenever the superduty took over) it was 36" or 36.5" and the superduties are a whopping 39" CTC. I put the bolt in from the inside, toward the frame, pushed it in til i could get the nut on, and then just ground down the bolt until it cleared without hitting the frame. Did that make sense? |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Wrekd yours aren't much different than mine, the top of my shackle mount (on the frame) sits 1/4 below the frame because of how I mounted them. I was thinking about sliders but never really thought seriously about them.
Like I said I'm still seriously thinking about moving the mount so I can use the smaller shackles and if I get REAL adventurous I'll put on the slightly shorter s10 springs with the shorter shackle to make it just that little bit better. And my frame is NO WHERE near symmetrical. It's completely different on both sides. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
im curious wreckd, i have examined a 97 4wd blazer, and it appeared to be asymmetrical like my 89. one of the dead give aways was the trans crossmember being asymmetrical as well. on mine and the 97' i looked at, the drivers side mounted with 2 bolts running front to back, on a ledge about 4" up from the bottom of the frame on the inside. on the passenger side, it mounted with 2 bolts that were running vertical and to the side of the frame. is this how yours was?

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
You know my internet Chris. It didn't work for SHIT and then I came to the theatre for a dance party. So now I'm on the computer in the box office telling everyone that as soon as I can I'll put up the flex pictures on PhotoBucket so that EVERYONE can see them.
Yea, Chris and I found out the fun way that my truck has a crazy amount of flex. It's gonna be sweet once it's done. We also 90% finished the transmission crossmember. All that's left to do is drill and tap some holes to make it bolt up to the frame/transmission. I'll put up pictures as soon as I can. I promise! |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I'm on dial up right now because satellite internet SUCKS!!! DON'T EVER GET IT!!! So I can't upload the pictures to photobucket because it's too slow.
But NEVER FEAR! I'm going to take the pictures to my buddy's house later this afternoon and load them onto photobucket from there. Then I'll post them up here. But I have another question for Donahue or Wrekd. Tim was WRONG (ha ha) and my XJ drive shaft is too LONG (not short TIM) so I'm just going to make it out of square tube. My Tcase yoke and D30 yoke are 29 inches apart what length (and size) tube would I need to buy? Don't forget I'm going to use the CV joint as well. If I get the info by the time I go to my buddy's house I may be able to get the DS bought and made tonight or tomorrow. Let me know! |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I don't think measurements from your driveshaft will do me any good Tim. I just need to know what size (OD and wall) tube and what lengths the two pieces need to be so I can get them today or tomorrow. Also some info on how to make it would be excellent too. I know I've seen Wrekd and Donahue with square front driveshafts so I know SOMEONE knows what I need.
