Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
Thanks for the welcome and the interest. I've got a Dana 30 under it for now. The springs are from a 95 Cherokee, steering is as well combined with zr2 steering. The front crossmember I fabbed up and am currently working on a setup for attaching the rear of the front springs. Still need to make shock tower and mounts, set the pinion agle, swap out the t-case and well......A lot to go!!! I have an extra t-case with encoder motor as well if anyone needs one. I'm still trying to figure out how to bypass the ABS(or make it work) with the D30(w/outABS). I'll keep posting pics as I go.

I might do that. Do you have any pics of how you hooked up the rear of your front springs? I need a few more ideas.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
The idea behind this build was for a cruser (go and watch the other idiots!
)/ parts hauler, most of my friends are into the extremes of rock crawling and I just don't have the $$$$ to keep up with 'em.It's a '98 4.3/TH-350/NP203(twin-sticked) Dana 44 Front (international pickup) & a 12 Bolt Rear (Chevy) both stuffed with 4.56's Pro Comp 2.5" lift springs for a YJ up front Bastard packs in rear Whats left before the shake down run (got all of it, just gotta put it on): Full Hydro new shackles frnt & rear Bumpers welded on Put shocks on |

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
BigBoy70..... Looks can be decieving and pictures do not always show the right detail... but I was wondering, is the front axle you chose wider then the rear? Looks like your front wheel base is a little wider then the rear.... but it could just be the angle of the pics.... And Do you have project shots?

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
they say it helps with tire tracking. i guess it helps the rear tires follow the path of the front tires

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
This is more true when refering to an IFS setup, especially on chevrolets.... but for the most part, paired straight axles are the same width. Now being that the front Axle he is running is not a paired match to the rear axle, there is a good chance they will be different widths being out of different vehicles, and that was where my question was going..... I was just curious. However, if you Look at the front of a 3/4 Ford or Dodge, or pretty much any Jeep that is on the road, the tracking is the same front and rear being paired straight axles. So this statement of the front track being wider then the rear is not 100% true. |

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
My axles are different width. And there from a 77 f-150. My buddies Suburban front rear is wider than his back rear too. So I would say most of them are. Probably all of them, but some more than others.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
Yeah its pretty well balanced. I think its actually an inch wider than it is tall. I know From the ends of the tires is 81", and the height to the roof was either 79.5" or 80" on the dot. I cant remember exactly though. |

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
yup, the rear is about 4" narrower than the front. When it comes to the Dana 44 fronts there are about 3 to 5 different widths in their "full-size" form. No real pics during the build up , i got some from after i did the front & before i did the rear.....![]() |

Looks like your front crossmember is crooked. You got a different angle on each shackle. Are you gonna be running hi-steer up front?? |

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
almost every car on the road has a wider front track width than the rear, not just 4x4's. it decreased the turning radius. for sure every solid axle ford and chevy, and 99% sure dodge as well as setup this way. oh, and dont forget nissan, toyota, and isuzu (though most in this list are IFS).

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
hey thx.. the body is in good shape on it just the fenders were messed and i need a drivers door. but paint im planning either all gloss black or i was gonna go with a 2 tone, medium silver from the bottom up to the body line(4" below window) then do black from there up. i want it to look good but perform good aswell.. itll be getting painted in spring, no sence in painting it during the winter for the salt to get at it.. plus i still have to toss on my rock sliders and a few more things.. thx for looking. |

How did you end up mounting those tube doors? Using regular door pins or something else?

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10
I cut the original hinges off of the doors (PITA BTW) then I put the hinges back on the truck and welded a 2x2x1/4 angle to both hinges then took them off and finished burning them in. Then I started bending pipe. Viola, one tube door.

I believe I've seen your truck/truggy over at Pirate. The trucks here don't get quite as extreme as yours, but having grown up being friends with John Sumner formerly of WMS, I definately admire and appreciate what you've built. Do you have any wheeling video's of it.
