Since I don't have any current "action" pics, since mine is still an open diff'd poser, I post up some pics of it from it's previous life before this last build.

And a few in it's current state.

Yeah, not replacing parts all the time and having a dependable front end sucks.

You guys have some seriously sweet rigs. I really like SFA's on the S series.

The first gen (at least) should have had them factory. Another mistake by GM.

at first i thought it was going to be too high, i wanted this to be stable in an off camber situation. but i think the way it is not is just about right. its got 38's and lots of ground clearance, but its still not that tall overall compared to most trucks running similar equipment. the top of the roof is at 85" and it still fits under my garage door without letting air out of the tires.

Could I get away with keeping the stock rear axle and the stock transfer case/tranny?

with 3-4 pounds of air in the tires mine is 26 '' to the bottom of the frame rail. could be 27 or 28 inches if I had 18 pounds of air

all mine is lacking in oregon to be street legal is fender flairs and mud flaps, and maybe a second mirror on the side of the truck. it is licensed and registered.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10

Nice build Archie. Can we get some specs on that thing?

I measured mine to the bottom of the frame right under the back of the door today and it varies from 17" to 32", but I drive it around at about 25-26ish, it seems to ride the best at that hieght.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10

Ya i need to start a build thread. It is a 84 that started life as a 2wd and now has a stout 327 that im building not done yet. with a th350 and np 205, dana 44 and corprate 14 both locked want 60 front, 52 inch leaf packs up front with a 4 link rear and mid 60s stretched impala rear springs. cut it down to a 125 in wheelbase, will have a full exo tied into a tube bed. 39.5 iroks would like boggers.
thanks for the replys the diesiel s10 that is sick seen your for ok when this is done planing on going to disney

That thing will be a blast at Disney. With that wheelbase and tire size it should go where ever you want it to there.

You have to swap in a front output shaft from a manually shifted 88-97 s-10 NP231C t-case. You have to tear down the t-case to do it.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10

Or do what I did and just swap in a NP231C which can be found in a lot of first generation s10s. Try to find one with the long rear output slip yoke. then if you go with a Jeep front drive shaft (like I did) you can easily change the front output yoke by just spinning a nut off then putting the new one on.

Re: Lets See Your SFA S-10

well i converted a k1500 1997 to sfa.. but what i did was use a th400 np205, is there a reason you dont use a np205 for a th350? is it just so you can keep the stock cable shifter or somthing?

No, it's that 6.5L Detroit that was in the '90's GM's that no one wants, but they are pretty good engines. Plenty for an S10.

And welcome to the forum.
