leafs,

hello everyone, plans have changed recently on my build and have some questions with leaf setups. what does the longer i to i leaf do vs the shorter? i want to bring the front axle as close to the front as posible and the back to the back. but i still am looknig for decent flex and ride. will have 14b and d44/10b (if i find a d44) with 36" tires. moving axles to the ends so i dont have to cut the cab body just the ends of the fenders.... well i dont have to cut them either, mother nature did that already. just touch it and the rust falls off lol. next question are the 14bff and the d44/10b spring perches close to working on a s-10 frame (stock location in rear - front can be made to work) or do i have to make new?. next whats a good leaf pack to use front and rear thats comon in a wrecking yard? on a unemployed homeless welder budget, house fire got to hate it but all NEW EVERYTHING! thanks for any help its all apreciated

Re: leafs,

well............ shorter springs you can move closer to the ends of the frame and your axle will obviously be closer to the end of the rig, (longer wheel base) but the longer the spring you will get more articulation,(wheel travel) but the center point of the long spring is 28inch and the short spring is 22 obviously will be further back fom the bumper with the longer springs,,,,, if you want the axle at the bumpers , you will probably want to coil spring/four link it,
the 10b/14b combo is a good idea ,you wil have to leave the spring perches on the front axle where they are and make you springs and mounting brackets on the frame to match the width of the axle mounting tabs on the axle,,, but the rear you can move the spring pads where you need to to match the frame of the s10,,,or just four link it .
56 inch rear springs of of a 80-87 are popular spring to put under to get lots of articulation,,,, check out the red 4dr s10 on this web site,
