Re: Dana 30 axle

Well here are a few pics for those of you who want them, mind you the upper control arms are still in as well as upper shock mounts. We will be torching them out either tomorrow or the day after. The front diff is still in because we couldnt get one bolt out but that will happen tomorrow as well.

Torsion bars are still in, anyone have tips on those??

here are the pics:

Thats it for now, like I said there is still some stuff to cut out but we didnt start until 5pm tonight and took a break to eat, but other than that we should have an axle under it by the end of the week

That black truck is my old low rider...It now has a 3in body lift with Baja Customs stage 1 longtravel kit in the front, and a ford 8.8 spring over in the rear. Running 32x10's on crager soft 8 17's...20 inches from the ground to lowest part of the frame

Re: Dana 30 axle

Alright so I got the torsion bars out was way easier after I unbolted the keys.

Also got the uppers cut off, but I only got the passenger side cleaned up before it started to rain, so tomorrow bright and early I will clean up the drivers side...

I still have to drop the front diff, which wont be so bad I think I can do it by myself. I will have some pictures up when my little sis comes home, I dont know how she uploads them...so when she gets home I will put those pics up

yeah I guess it depends on the year if it is 95 - 97 its Iron, so mine is Iron...aluminum ones arent bad...I am just going to throw a jack under it, pull the bolts out and relieve the jack

Re: Dana 30 axle

Ok pick time:

passenger side cleaned up

Drivers side cut out but not cleaned up

IFS junk pile getting bigger

So I figured I will have everything cleaned up tomorrow early, and get the axle cleaned up with new brakes and what-not...then I can start welding in my new shit!!

Re: Dana 30 axle

since yours is iron and a lil to heavy to fight with. the bracket on the right side in the 2nd pic under the UCA bracket kinda gets in the way so just stand to the side and torch it

Re: Dana 30 axle

Your front diff shouldn't be iron unless its a 5-speed. The 5-speeds and the Zr2's are the only trucks that got iron front diffs from the factory.

I am going with an 8.8 out of an explorer with 4.10s I found it would be cheaper in the long run to invest in an 8.8 instead of fighting with the weak 10 bolt s10 rear

Maybe sometime next week I'll get in touch with ya. Im leaving for a fishing trip tomorrow to the Allegheny River for 4 days. But I definitely wanna check it out. We'll be the only ones in the whole area with SFA s-10's as far as I know

Well my buddy is supposedly doing one on his 1st gen. FI305, TH350, fullsize 10 bolts, on 35's. So maybe they'll be 3 of us by the end of the summer.

Actually Im gonna call that fvcker to see if he made any progress
