I might have gone with something a little bit heavier just to be on the safe side, but you'll find out if you need to change it soon enough.

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
its was one of those things where it was just designed to be a bumper and nothing more, i dont plan on putting any extreme force on it, the rear on the other hand will be much stronger because i tend on using it for anchoring down

Jack it up, put it in neutral, and spin one tire. If the other tire spins the same way it's a posi, if it spins the other way it isn't.

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
yea I only ever had to look for a wheel after I pulled the front diff (when i still had one) to replace a broken stub shaft.....
lets just say that my buddy who put the wheel back on didnt tighten it enuf....my fault because i should have checked.....but when the 33" tire passes by your driver's window at 90km/h and dissappears into the darkness ahead.....well its hard to recapture that feeling. OH SH........ that about sums it up lol. /hijack |

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
alright looking for some general info on driveshafts. im going to be needing a high angle one in the front and im wondering what the cost is going to be and how it gets fitted. will they end up needing to replace hte output yolk on the t-case or do hte u-joints just bolt into the stock location?

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
My front drive shaft had to have a high angle CV at the case and the other end had to have a ton of grinding done to get the caps/straps to clear the yokes, but it works fine with the bags fully inflated. I got it from driveshaftsuperstore.com, but they failed to mention that I would have to do all of the grinding to the front yoke. I shouldn't be complaining, but for nearly $500 I expected it to just work. And yes it required a new T-case yoke, but it was included in the price.

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
hey guys i got a question on sealer. when i put my t-case and tranny back in the other week i had used formagasket to instead of a real garket where the tranny mates up with the adaptor and t-case. but i noticed a leak last night. is there any type of sealer i can use on the other seam so i dont have to pull it apart again?

I use the same stuff also, just be sure that both surfaces are clean. I always clean them with thinner before I put the RTV on.

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
It wouldn't bother me to put those tires on 8" wheels. That tire will only require about 20-24 psi on an S10 anyway, so the lower air pressure should help keep it from wearing the center any worse than normal.
Edit: I just looked through your pics and I don't think you will hit the cab on the street, but flexing it out with the wheel cranked it would probably hit the cab. Ain't nothin a lil trimmin won't fix! Last edited by DieselS10 : 09-28-2009 at 10:50 PM. |

Lay a straight egde across the back edge of the wheel and measure from the wheel lip to the mounting point, that will tell you.

ok stupid question, when measuring rim diameter do you measure over all diameter or do your measure where the bead goes,?

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
what kind of lockers are you guys running, im looking to get a locker for the front and rear , i am looking to gat an aussie locker for the front, but i would like your input as to if an automatic locker is a god decision for the rear, for the price of an aussie locker you really cant beat it. and input would be great.

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
well ive been looking at my front driveshaft situation and it still looks like its going to bind at the pinion, maby some grinding will take care of it but i was wondering, does anyone have experience with driveshafts with dual cv joints. i found a site selling shafts with a cv joint on each end. any oppinions?

Re: 91 s10 4wd sas conversion
i dont remember what rear your running but i have heard the aussie for the ford 8.8 has been giving a lot of people problems. I have tghe aussie in my d30 and works fine but reduces my turning radius to a bus, and in the rear 8.8 im running a lockright.

People don't seem to want to, but turning the pinion up is the cheapest, easiest fix for driveline angle problem. PM 4WDJoey about the Lock-Rights. |
