01 zr2 SFA conversion Q's

if i got a jeep dana 30 front with stock jeep leafs how much lift would it give me?

Or what size lift leafs would i need to clear 33's?

I plan an a rear axle flip with a 35 or 44 rear form a jeep.

i want like 5-6 inch lift overall will i clear 33's?

Thanks, xtreme

Re: 01 zr2 SFA conversion Q's

Thye Ford d44s came in 5 lug or 8 lug, depending on what truck it came out of. i think the S-10 rear leaves would be way to stiff for the front...alot of guys use the BDS YJ (Wrangler) 3.5" or 4" leafs for the front and clear 35s/36s (I'm assuming you'd be SOA?) They ride nice and flex well. I'd skip the 12 bolt, if you're going through the hassle, use a 14 bolt or the D60 out of the donor Ford. Look for a '77-'79 Ford F250, and you'll get the HP d44 with the rear d60 and won't have to mix 'n' match lug patterns.

wouldnt you lose some HP with the extra weight of the D44 and 14 bolt, would that but more stress on the engine or more importantly the tranny i have a 5-sp... or will the V6 have enough power?
Whats SOA???

It's all in the gearing...you'd be fine w/ the 5spd./V6 with 4.56-4.88 gears...just keep in mind the NVG 5 spds. aren't the strongest, but it would suffice. SOA=spring over axle...you get more height this way, but more axlewrap/wheelhop.

Re: 01 zr2 SFA conversion Q's

You can go with S-10 rear leafs for the front. That is what I used to run. I perfer rear leafs from a K5 Blazer up front. If you want to go with a 12 like I have in the back, then just go with a Jeep Wagoner d44 front, like I have. You will have enough room to fit 35's with a little fender trimming. My 4.3 has no problem handling my 35x12.5's but I don't thrash it because I only have the older 4 speed and it isn't rated for the 4.3. But I have taken it on quite a few trails without a problem. If you have any more questions post them in the SFA post at the top of the Thread page. Those guys know a lot and they will help you out.
