what is necessary?
I have a 91 blazer 4 door 4.3 and I want to body lift it but I dont want a lot of hassle with linkage, wires, hoses, lines, etc. So if anyone has done it before, I could use some advice, if its too much hassle, I will prolly not do it but if its not to bad, then i will. I want to do a 3 inch body and just a TB and shackle lift added to it, just enough so i could get like, 32s on. any advice/help would be great.

Re: what is necessary?
body lifts are super easy you dont have to do anything about hoses and wires

Re: what is necessary?
on my 96 i didnt have to do anything. The only thing i really had to cut and move around was the rear bumper which i had no problems doing. To me they are quite simple.

Re: what is necessary?
I think that my main thing I am worried about is fan shroud, oil cooler hoses, radiator hoses. That kind of thing. The fan shroud actually holds the radiator to the core so I cant really take it out. If thats the only thing that you guys have had to do then it looks like I will go ahead. Thanks for the help. Ill post some pics of before and after when I get it done.

Re: what is necessary?
My kit used spacers to space out the fan shroud, so the upper and lower have like a 2" gap (or a 3"), i had a couple of drop brackets for the oil cooler lines, but yours is located under the air box , where mine is located under the radiator, so i doubt you will have anything there, and i didnt have to do anything to the radiator hoses. You can download the PA body lift install manual on their website and it will tell you everything you will have to do. Thats what i did before i purchased mine, just to make sure that i wasn't going to be surprised by anything.

Re: what is necessary?
On a first gen you cut the fan shroud, The way the shroud is designed the rad sits on it so there is no spacing down. Easier and better to just swap out to an electric fan anyways. The oil filter gets mounted lower if I recall, sorry I got a 2.8 so I didn't have to worry about this so I don't remember exactly. Rad hoses were fine on mine and didn't require anything. You will have to watch the main wiring harness that goes over the brake booster, mine was stretched a bit tight but worked. The tranny shifter has to have a bit welded in (included in the kit) and the floor shifter had to be trimmed out a bit. The gas filler hose has to have a bit added (included in the kit).
On a first gen the only 2 problems you will have is the bumpers. Nobody makes brackets for them. If you want to run the factory bumpers you will have to cut the front brackets off the frame and weld/brace them higher. On the rear you can turn the brackets upside down then cut and weld/brace them. Any more questions? I just got done with a 3 inch BL on my 87 about a month ago and most of its still fresh on my memory. |

Re: what is necessary?
thanks superflow, and neo. I did check out the PA website and said the bumper brackets were the only thing not included I was thinking that the radiator hoses was gonna be in the way but it says not. Thanks for the help!
