steering wheel wondering left to right

i have a 2001 GMC Jimmy 6in skyjacker 2 in body life every moveable parts new new poly bushing new bj tie rods pit man arm and idler were replaced with the life install. 6000 miles on these. it has lost the centre feel and the truck droft left to right it wont go down the rd centred the tires are new red letters General Grabbers 33x12.50r15. what am i missing on this. it is going back to the alignment shop to be rechecked this week. does it need a steering stabilzer. that will be going on tuesday.

could just be the wide tires. they follow the wear marks in the road and it causes it to wonder from side to side.

check for play in the joints between the gear box and the steering colum. 12.5 tires shouldn't be that bad for following the road grooves. did you get it aligned with the new tires? I had a shop forget to tighten the adjusters on my top arms after an alignment...

got it aligned after rrthe lift and tires going to get a new alignment would a steering stabilzer help a little?:

it will help a little. how much play do you have when you turn the wheel back and forth till the tires actually move? my truck would wander alot until i upgraded my steering shaft.

between the steering stabilzer which calmed it down ALOT i took it for a alignment today and the truck actually behaves still wanders but i think it is because of the fact of the wider tires and crappy roads. the alignment was way off they were suprized that the first shop could have done that crappy of a job. thay also said that they could have done a better job witha tape measure. learned my lession of the cheaper is not better.

I always had the wandering when my Idler was bad. I also replaced my rag joint and that took alot of the slop out of the steering as well.

Also with the 12.5 inch tires how wide are you rims? my friends dads jeep had 12.5 tires on it and only 8 inch wide rims and it made the truck wander because the tires had to bend to fit the rim.

not sure they are the Z28/early ZQ8 rims so maybe 7 or 8

Ive got 8in wheels with 12.5 tires and have no wandering unless something has worn out. No steering stabilizer either. I would replace the ragjoint with a ujoint from flaming rivers.

could it be the gear box worn out it is not sticking and dont want to turn as well

Could be, I replaced my box cause it was leaking and removed the rag joint at the same time so I cant comment for sure.

well in the process of replacing the gear box I found this

so it got a new box pitman arm and NOW A IDLER ARM that i just replaced with the lift

it was a lifetime replacment but it was just put in in may they got me a new one for me. FREE

it steers to go it is almost to easy to drive now it is twitchy i think it needs a alignment
