rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

Im looking into buying the RC 2.5'' for my Zr-2 and was wondering what some opinions were. Does anyone have this lift on a zr-2? Do you have pictures of the lift installed on the truck? What size tire can you run? Currently on my truck there are some cheap shackles and the torsion key bolts ran all the way in but the truck is due for ball joints and shocks and the lift comes with all that and thats why im leaning towards buying it. Thanks for any help.

My truck has 31/10.50/15 federal couragia mt. The tires fit great and dont rub at all but i want to go bigger possible 33/10.50/15.

New wheels becuase with the 2.5" lift on a zr2 the wheels will rub the control arms at full lock.

Looks to be 31 10.50 15. Just less backspacing on the new wheels. You can definitely go 32 11.50 on that setup with ease. Maybe minor trimming not too sure.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

im looking to fit 33-10.5 or 33-11.5 tires. im running 31" now with no problems and i know i could fit a 32 easy. im not so sure if the lift will give me anymore height than the tbar crank and cheap shackles i have now.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

RC even states it should give a Zr2 about 1.5 of lift so it may not give you much lift but your front end parts might last longer. A BL might be a better option to give you a little more lift.

31x10.5 rime have 4.5" backspace.

Note I only lifted the front of my truck 2.0" over stock. In the front.

I think 32's would fit fine. 33's would be tight.

I suggest a body lift and rough country lift to clear 33's

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

I dont really like how body lifts look but i may end up doin the rc 2.5" lift and a mild body lift and see where that gets me. Does anyone know about the ride quality of a truck with the lift? I have owned probaly 8 lifted trucks and most were jeeps that were strickly offroad use only so i know they ride defferent and handle a little different. I want to know if ride quality will suffer?

obviously it will be stiffer shouldnt be unbareable but your gf might complain about it. I'm just about to 2.5 rough country mine. I'm looking for 33x10.5 or if I wanna run 33x12.5 ill have to do the 2 inch body lift as well. what ever I find cheaper. KEEP POSTING PICS IF U HAVE love my zr2

I love my zr2 as well and for it being a 1994 with 191,xxx it is in very good shape no cab corner rot just a small rust spot in the bed side. I will take some pics tomorrow with the wifes camera. I live in cincinnati oh and they are calling for snow on sunday so i should have some good pics.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

Negative on it being stiffer. The torsion bars aren't progressive rate. People think its stiffer when all it is, is the suspension is hitting the droop stops. ZR2s can be turned up without issue. Mine are turned up 2inches and absolutely no ride difference.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

Mine is not a Zr2 but I don't think that really matters about the ride quality. It rides better after the RC lift if you ask me, new shocks, BJs are probably why.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

Mine rides the same with the rc lift as it did stock.

How would 32x11.5x15 fit on a ZR2 Blazer? Probably will use Z28 rims but may buy something else.

Can one of you fellows with a zr2 and the RC 2.5 lift measure your ride height for me so i can compare it with my truck?

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

37.5 front.

39 rear

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

I know they dont sell just the drop arm, But why hasnt anyone copied it and fabbed one up? No reason on a ZR2 to lift it, Mine is sitting at 38" in the rear and 37.X" front. If you fabbed your own arm/bracket, Get a set of shackles and keys it would be alot cheaper.

Same thing rough country does with every other lift they sell, Their jeep kits are currie/rock krawler knock-offs. They are the last company to buy from unless they are the only one, Like in this case. The 2.5" jeep lift from them netted 1.5", So they fixed that with free coil spacers and call it a 3.25" lift. Mighty white of them....... Lets not fix sagged out coils out of the box, Send um spacers.

To each their own i guess, If i ever lift mine thats exactly what ill do. Order a kit, Make bracket, Send kit back.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

yeah but with the rc lift you get shocks, controll arms, ball joints. the kit is just under 500$ and is worth it for what you get.

Re: rough country 2.5" lift on a zr-2

Thats not bad. The price i saw was $749. If the arms and BJ's hold up, Might be worth it then. They have great CS for any problems, Hope it works out for ya.

When i turned my bars I was at 36ish front and 38 rear. Still have room to go on the bars. Previous owner had them turned down for some odd reason.

I just went and re measured front is still 37.5 rear settled to 38.5

39" was 2" over stock and I only put in a 1.5" shackle. So I knew it would settle after some miles.

Cool, If you have the extra time or a extra person, Can you take pic's too and maybe a mini write-up to compare to the other? What shock did you go with too? BTW or is there no choice?
If not no prob, RC sent me the instructions and im wanting to, But still a little foggy from the lifts and fab work done in the past, This is a whole new platform lol. Thanks
