Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

Hi Guys -

I just bought a 00" GMC Jimmy 4x4 4 - Door. I was wondering a couple things guys regarding lifting my GMC Jimmy. Its currently bone stock nothing aftermarket. I ask this b/c im on a tight budget due to being recently married. I have searched here s10forum.com however most information is out of date. Any help on special deals, used parts etc.

- Where can i find inexpensive body lift kit ?
- Place to find tension key kit ?
- Any place i can find wheels & rims online ?
- Inexpensive lift kits ?

Thank you all

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

- Dont buy it unless your t-bars are worn.
- Ebay, Google, Craigslist, Summit Most times some local prices are just as good.
- Reliable, Cheap, High....Pick two

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

i just lifted my envoy pretty cheap
cranked my t-bars- free
i had a friend make me shackles out of scrap metal laying around his shop- 12pack of bass
bought a set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 31x10.50x15 off of craigslist- $300 and he gave me a brand new spare with it so 5 tires all together
set of crager soft 8s 15x8 from summit- $159.80

i also bought a set of energy suspension leaf spring bushings for like $40 just cause i knew my old ones where shot and 4 bilsten shocks casue my shocks where shot too

so really the tires and rims are only the expensive thing are the tires

george hows the sas going i still want to buy ur super lift lol keep me in mind

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

that lift from 4wd factory is one for a 2wd s10. Email joey directly, hes a great guy to do business with, and i have dealt with him twice already and wouldnt hesitate to deal with him again.

https://www.4wdfactory.com/store/pro...%22-Suspension

Thats the one you will need. and here joey lists it again.

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f239/8...8/#post6588800

You can see he gives a helluva deal for being a member on here. Talk to him, he will take care of you and great care too!! If i get an older regular cab short bed 4wd, it will get this lift, and be a hunting truck!

If you do a little searching, you will find out that you can use a first gen BL on a second gen with little modification. First gen BLs are priced less.
You just need a couple extra blocks or make some with steel tubing.

Just crank you torsion bars abit and get some shackles for the rear and save 300 bucks. Same thing.

Very true in deed, i looked into this. Ebay seems to be best priced but kinda sketchy buying from there. I checked out major brand sites / name brand parts but i dont really want to spend $100 on pair of shackles.

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

Ya gotta lift it before you worry about spending money on new wheels. If you can't afford to buy a pair of shackles, you probably can't afford to buy a new set of wheels. Not a flame, just an observation.

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

If you or a friend has access to a welder, you can make your own shackles. I made mine, took me all of one hour. Then cranked my t-bars and done. I work in in a fab shop so it was all free for me. Even if you had to buy the steel it's probably cheaper than buying some online.

i can afford the cost of shackles, this is just my first 4x4 so i want to buy what i need to the lift the right way.

I also have to find out where years are interchangeable with my specific year i hear that is a good way to go.

You can get shackles from the local parts store for under 20 that will serve your needs just fine unless you are doming some SERIOUS SERIOUS off roading.

Ok heres what you need.
parts store shackles. 20 bucks,
tb crank/alignment 40 bucks
3"BL 90 bucks
misc bolts and extra blocks 25 bucks
Less that 200 bucks youd have 5" lift plus what youll gain with the bigger tires. If you only want 31's just do the BL or TB crand and shackles
If you want 33x10.50's do BL and TB crank.

Auto Zone and advance i know for sure have the shackles by there performance stuff. And all the chrome stuff they carry.

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

Can you weld? if so buy the cheap ones, weld a piece of 2.5 in flat bar in the middle and it solves your problem. Like this.

Or you can buy some off ebay that already have it in there. i think i paid 35 bucks for the ones on mine, and they are 3" lift

Re: Question - 00" GMC Jimmy Lift

You really dont want to crank the super lift or rough country that far though.
I had 2" add a leaf and 2" shackles. Had the front cranked nearly all the way. Had no down travel and changed cv boots often.
