in my truck i have automatic locking hubs, so i have a switch not 4-on-the-floor lever, when u turn the key the indicator flashes twice to show its working, my truck no longer blinks, and of course when i push the switch for 4LO or 4HI i get nothing, anyone have this problem, i dont think there is a problem with the vaccum lines or t-case but i could be wrong, anyone?

Re: no 4x4 indicator
I would also say check your fuses. It has got to be a fuse. Do you hear any kind of noise when you press the button to engage the 4wd?

Re: no 4x4 indicator
First off, you dont have auto locking hubs. if so you'd have an actual hub sticking out in the middle of your wheel like old solid axle trucks. S10's never had any type of manual or auto locking hubs from the factory. They have sealed unit bearings, the halfshafts turn all the time in 2 or 4wd. There is a center axle disconnect (CAD) in the front chunk that disengages the axle so the front driveshaft doesnt spin in 2wd.
Now onto your problem, it is probably the encoder motor on the t-case. Its what shifts the ones with the electric shift (pushbutton) 4x4. They are very common to fail, but expensive to replace. That would be my guess. If thats not it, you may have a vacuum issue thats not locking in the front axle at the CAD, but my bet is the encoder motor. |
