Look what Fed Ex brought me

I got some bushwacker fender flares. They are the extend-a-fender.

I got them from autoanything.com

The one has some small scratches from shipping, but its not to bad.

I installed them this evening and the look pretty good. The instructions were horrible. basically they said, install rubber edge and use self tapping screws to install. thats it.

But, the installation was easier than I thought it would be. It took me about an hour and a half. I was really surprised i didnt have to do any trimming on them.

But the look good. Before anyone asks, I will get some pics tomarrow when its light out.

all my truck needs now is a lift.

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

Pics

It was a little frosty this morning

Thes are from inside the fender well. If i wanted to take them off there would be some holes in the lip of the fender but they wouldnt bee seen unless you get low enough to look up at them. I hope that made sense.

Overall im pretty happy. The front wheels look perfect with the flares, I wish the rears stick out another inch or 2. O well. All I need now is a lift.

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

cool but personally i dont like big flares like that on stock height trucks. IMO gotta have 33s and up for flares that big. i'm sure they'll look better on your truck after you lift it some and get at least 31s under there.

Thats the thing, the previous owner put 4 brand new tires on it 1 month before i got the truck. The tires have only 10k miles on them and i cant justify throwin out perfectly good tires. And if i would get new tires i would prably get some 15x8 soft 8s and get lose the spacers too.

thanks for the compliments and stuff.

How much does a 2" BL cost for my truck. and do they make a 3" for the 94-97? I should probly do some research, they cant cost more than the flares.

thats more of what i'm talkin about but i still wouldnt even put them on my truck unless i had 33s n up. just makes the truck look too goofy and dwarfs the tires. just my 2cents

at least 95strucker has spaced his wheels out some... cant even imaging how goofy it'd look without the spacers... truck would look like its about to tip over just standing still.

i got lucky then, bc i have the same stuff on my blazer and it only cost me like $400

2" bl-$100
wheels-$160
tires-$150 (got em from a buddy)

and the tires will rub bad bc of the backspacing of the wheels

eh ya dont have to do it all at once... start with the body lift. shop around to get the best price on it. doesnt hurt to ask local parts stores what they charge even though it'll prolly turn out to be the same if not more after you compare it with the internet price plus shipping

then find some tires.. check locally for tires as you'll pay through the nose for shipping if you buy them online. usually you can get tires a lot cheaper through a local dealer than you can from an online store... that is unless you find a good deal on a wheel and tire package through an online store. you can also get an somewhat aggressive a/t tread from a dif maker for a lot cheaper than what you'll pay for BFG's.. check into cooper tires or mastercraft tires as they run a lot cheaper than the over-priced bfgs.

and finally find some rims down the road. at least you're running some spacers so you can get away with running the 31s on your stockers and still have it look decent until you can afford a new set of wheels.

it doesnt all have to come at once... hell i never had enough money at once to do everything to my truck at one time. besides its more fun when you can add a little something here and there as you go... its what keeps ya interested... it took me two years to get my truck where it is now. usually about the time i start to get bored with it i'm able to afford something new for it.

x2 on all that. I've had my S10 for a little over a year now and it took this whole time to get it where it is now. First I did the body lift. Then I got the new tires a few months later. Next thing to go in is a mini spool and a Posi-lock. The more you work on your truck the more you enjoy having it. At least thats how I feel.

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

If you plan on doing the ZR2 rear, you'll want to consider that the ZR2's came with 3.73 gears, so you might have to regear. You'll also want to ditch your front spacers with the addition of aftermarket rims... they'll put you way too far out in the front and you'll rub quite a bit.

For what it's worth, I actually sell body lifts, tires, etc.

Wheels (exactly like the Cragar's, they come in 15x8's, with 4.5" of BS, which is easier on your front end than the 4" BS of the Cragars): $49.96 ea; $199.84 for 4

2" BL: $124.95

The BFG AT's are $135.95 ea (not on the site yet); $543.80 for 4

Total: $868. I can definitely work that down a bit if you do decide to buy through me.

summit sells the soft 8s for 38.95 each.

the tires and the BL are the same in summit as you.

Im not ready to buy anything as of now. and ive been looking at tires on the web, (should look locally though too.)

does anyone use these or has anyone used these before?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=6

I am way too anxious about this, i should slow down a little and do some more research.

Right, but they're 15x8 with 4" of BS. Not exactly optimal BS for wanting to fit larger tires.

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

It absolutely does. The Rock Crawler rims i posted are also available in 15x7 with 4.5" of BS, which is 1.5" more backspacing than the Cragars.

It's your truck, and your call... but i've been around the scene long enough to know what i'm talking about. (I better, I own an S-10 based offroad business )

where did 15x7 come from?

earlier you were talkin about 15x8

your right about the 4.5 backspace on a 7 inch rim being more noticable then a 4 inch bs on a 8 inch rim.

Its not worth it to me to spend $44 more for a half inch.

either way, its gonna be a while before i do anything

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

From my suggestion. They're a better fit for your application. You talked about wanting to use 15x8's with 4" of BS... but 15x7's with 4.5" of BS would work much better.

Regardless of who you buy from... it's definitely important to do a lot of research first. Otherwise, you'll end up with $39 paperweights (or cut tires and torn up fender flares).

Regardless of who you buy from... it's definitely important to do a lot of research first. Otherwise, you'll end up with $39 paperweights (or cut tires and torn up fender flares).

right now i have stock 15x7 stock wheels with 6" of bs. add the 1.5 inch spacers i have in the front, so i have a 15x7 rim with 4.5" of total backspacing.(same dimmensions as what you are trying to sell me) And i have no rubbing at all.

Correct me if i did my math wrong here,

so the outside edge of a 15x8 with 4"of bs(no spacer anymore) will stick out 1.5 " farther 15x7 stock rim with spacers. Is that right?

if im right, then the 15x8 with the 4.5" would be better

Do you have a 15x8 with a 5" bs or a 15x7 with a 4" bs, because those would prabably be better yet, wouldnt they?

wow, my head hurts

eh, i dunno?.. might need to trim. i have to trim more yet!

i went with 15x8 with 4" of BS with 33s, on a zr2 w/ 2" BL and it rubs pretty good. and i didnt think i'd have to trim much.

guess you can try it?

Yes and no.

Yes, with your spacers, you're at the same backspacing as the rims i was suggesting. But with the rims, you have the option of using the spacers as well if you care to, or just sell them to recoup some of the cost of everything else.

No to the 15x8's with 4.5" being better. I can't tell exactly what tires you're running, but they're fairly tame... and look to be about 235's. If you want to run a somewhat aggressive 31" tire, you need to keep your tires more inside the wheel well to prevent them from rubbing. Just because you don't rub now, doesn't mean you won't with the 31's (in fact, i can almost guarantee it, espescially with the flares... even with the BL).

Re: Look what Fed Ex brought me

i had to trim mine to get the 35's to fit without rubbing.. the front tires will rub a lil bit if it get it in a bind..lol..when i trimmed mine i took "great stuff" expanding foam and filled in the hole, that trimming made...i then painted it black and ya cant even tell its been cut on..
