horrible bang/ popping noise.
truck makes a popping (not the balljoint pop) sound from the right front especially when making right turns. It will do it more than once while turning a bit hard. its a 92 4x4 torsion bar. Wheel doesn't have play in it when jacked up, sway bar links are hooked up, but i have not had time to look any further. Any suggestions? thanks

Re: horrible bang/ popping noise.
could be your upper control arm. My upper left control arm made a popping/thunking noise when i made slow speed right turns and was worst when i was at full lock. It was because the bushings in the control arm actually pushed into the arm itself creating a small gap so when i made the turn it crossed the distance and made a popping noise. that's one possibility for ya

Mine does the same thing except it's the left front. It started after I took it to uwharrie, I'm guessing it's a bad ball joint but I haven't really inspected it yet.

Re: horrible bang/ popping noise.
Hopefully i will have 15 minutes this weekend to pull the wheel and give everything a good inspection. I wonder though sometimes if it only sounds like its coming from the right front, but its actually traveling from the bed. Sometimes I swear it sounds like the bed mounts bind/ crack/ clank.
Hey, who am I to complain about a free truck, with 4 wheel drive, and air conditioning... Best daily ever. |
