air intake

Lately I have been playing around in some water the last time I went out I sucked in a little bit enough to make the truck run like shit for a minute can anyone suggest a way to solve this problem? I was thinking about removing all the plastic air box and just keeping the air filter with none of the other stuff it would gain me a couple inches instead of having the air come in at the head light it would be up by the hood more. suggestions?

Re: air intake

x2 on the snorkel. I built my own out of some pvc pipe. i used 3in pvc but if i built one again i would use 2in cause the 3 looked a little over powering. i have pics of mine on here somwhere.

Re: air intake

i ran into the same problem a couple weekends ago. went into a hole that i didnt know was that deep and the next thing i knew my headlights where under water water rushed into my cab and my intake sucked up water and the motor died. i almost shit my paints casue i thought i might of hydro locked my motor but thank good i didnt. well after i got pulled out i poped open my hood and took my ebay intake and just flipped it up and i havent had a problem since. now the only problem i have is my truck smells like a swamp.
i plan on having a friend weld me a box for my intake so no water can get in it and maybe get some colder air too
