4X4 clunking in low and high......?

hi, I'm still pretty new to these forums. so my problem is when I'm in 4X4 low truck sounds like its popping in and out of 4X4, when I'm in high it does it also just not as bad usually only if i hit the gas hard. I'm also looking for stock fender height on a 99 LS so i can figure out if my torsion bars are cranked, I think one bolt is all the way tight and the other is not I'm sure thats not how its supposed to be.

thanks

no, I'm sorry its more like it pops in and out of 4WD when it happens almost as if the diff or the transfer case is locking up and releasing fast. i just put new axles in and it did it before i put them in. someone told me it might be my shift fork in my transfer case not holing it in 4X4 enough.

push button or floor shifter? can you actually feel it kick out of 4 and back in or just hear it? does it make the truck jerk?

its pretty much the same thing only the push button is done by vacuum actuators and electronics. so if it was a floor shifted case and it was doing the same thing what would it mean?

could it be the chain out of adjustment and just jumping a tooth or 2?

Re: 4X4 clunking in low and high......?

Mine was doing this too. Has not done it in a while. My thought initially was that it was the front diff. Under what conditions has it done this? Every time you put it into 4wd, or just sometimes? I havent had to use my 4wd for some time so Im not sur eif its still doing it. Its a very loud slamming.

And to the guy who asked if it was a Floor shift... You are stupid. Leave.

screw you. i have no experiance with the vacuum systems and im not going to pretend that i do. so i was just stating that i don't know anything about them.
