This is the "liftin it" section.

.....you might try posting your question in the "lowering it" section.

Re: lowering 2wd

i believe the s10 is a 2: 1lift ratio if you cut 3" off the coil it will be a 6" drop. From what i heard with stock springs every 1/2 coil is an inch of drop.

Re: lowering 2wd

i put the thread here because i was told they were moog springs used to lift the truck. so yoiu guys with lifted trucks would know more about the springs than i guy with a lowered truck.

what end would i cut? the square end or the tangential end?

Re: lowering 2wd

Wait...So it's a 2wd, you have lift coils, and you want to lower your 2wd. Am I correct?
1. post in the drop it section.
2. buy drop coils.

You don't CUT coils to lift a truck

.....when people buy the Moog springs.....they intall them as they are.

Re: lowering 2wd

i posted it here because the lifted guys would know more about moog lift coils, and i was just going to cut them down to lower the car, i thought it would be ok because the spring rate is so high on them i dont think it will bottom out at all.

Chances are more people in the drop it section will know more about cutting the coils and dropping a truck than the guys in the lift it section.(no offense guys)

Cutting the coils will make it ride like shit. Drop coils are cheap and they won't bottom out, in fact I've never heard of a coil bottoming out.

So...
1. post in the drop it section
2. sell the lift coils
3. buy drop coils
4. do it right

Re: lowering 2wd

the springs has two different ends one is called a square end and the other is called a tangential, does it matter what end you cut or should you cut both ends some?

n/m don't worry about it. I've told you what you need to do, you don't want to listen, then fine. Have fun cutting up your lift coils to lower your truck.

Re: lowering 2wd

since you don't understand im gonna tell you the truth. if you cut the coils the truck is gonna fall completely appart and it is going to crash into a big fat woman. so DONT DO IT. buy dropped coils. you wouldnt cut your stomach if you wanted to lose weight so dont cut the coils.

This coil, If I were you, I'd sell it or return it for $.

If you're gonna cut, it's easier and better to use chop saw. But can't say how much but seeing it's 15" at free height while coil we use are at 12"-13", this is going to be trial and error for you to get height you want which will be bit hassle unless you're experienced with doing coil swaps.

Re: lowering 2wd

i believe him and heard of people doing this, not the best way but if you did do it make sure the new end of the spring is in the same spot as it originally was so it will at least seat properly.
