Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

yeah I know its cuz my upper arms will rub my tires.

Its pretty much until I get my spacers which I am getting from a guy on here but he hasn't really been on to reply which sucks.

yeah i can under stand that. you have stock rims right? and I'm not sure what stock backspacing is but mine stick out a bit further then stock and my small tires are kinda close to rubbing my spindles.

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

yeah I found some new rims that are 15x8 and guy says 6.5 inch backspacing these better than the stock rims I have?

also do these work on sonomas? it says if you have rain gutters it will.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROOF-...Q5fAccessories

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

um i think 6.5" back spacing is way to high. i thought it had to be no more then 3.75 or something like that. the higher the number on the backspacing the further in your wheels sit so a lower number is what you want here. go for at least 4" or less. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

Yeah that 6.5 back space is for a 4x4. NO WAY THEY WOULD WORK FOR YOUR TRUCK. You need 3.75 or less. MIne are 3.5 with 2 inch spacers. IF i took the spacers off id be in the frame big time with the tires.

a few pics of my old 1990 2wd s10. the pics were taken in 2000.
6.5" fabtech, 3" body lift, 33" TSL's. Before I sold the truck I installed 35" BFG's.

that was the old 6.5" fabtech lift. that was the best the alignment was gonna get. it drove great and didn't wear the tires funny either.

i also had 4.56 gears and an auburn gear limited slip.

Looks pretty simple. I could probably copy that design with a cheap wire welder from Lowes and some pipe.
Or screw that. A buddy of mine works at a local steel fab shop. He'll make pretty much anything in his spare time...including a crossmember with hanger mounts for my SFA project.

I'll see him Thrusday at our volunteer fire department. We meet every Thursday. I'll run it by him and see how much he'd charge. I imagine shipping may end up being more than the piece itself. He's made all kinds of stuff for the station from scrap around his shop.

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

Hey Scora7, I was wondering how big of a body lift and how much spindle lift you have on your truck? I have just decided to lift my S-10 and love the look of your truck (Not too big, and still not small). I want to go straight lift and not a body lift, but I am trying to achieve about the same right height as you have. Thanks

I would say about 6 or more inchs of lift to clear, maybe less with some trimming.

i agree with that bro, you can see from these pics alone that his alignment is all MESSED UP, he is gonna crown them tires in less then a week, and eventually just tip over if the little 4 banger can get up to speed without falling apart

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

You can get that lift cheaper than the high-dollar Fabtech kits.

I have a tendency to hate on Fabtech because they charge so much more than most other vendors.

The best way for the lift is Baja customs upper A-arm 3" spring lift, some Chassistech 3" lift spindles, rear axle flip, and a simple 3 inch body lift.

Should clear 33x12.50 tire with minimal to no trimming.

Rubbing is always a issue with wider tires.

Fabtech's spindles push the wheel hub out further than Chassistech's.
The price difference can still be made up with Chassistech spindles and wheel spacer adapters.
Since aftermarket wheels throw all kinds of backspacing and offset variables in the mix, best bet is to measure, then determine what size spacer you need to keep the tires from rubbing frame, swaybar, etc.

If you're gonna do it, might as well do it right.

Re: Lifted 2wd pics, post them!

Good looking trucks guys! I know we may be in the minority, but...IN MY OPINION...up is the only way these trucks should go. 2WD or not.

I wouldn't mind a small lift with some slightly bigger tires myself (kinda like the stock 4x4 non ZR2 look), but I like my stock ride height for now. Definitely like the lifted look though.
