How High?

So, I haven't been on here in a while, but I have made many modifications to my truck since the last time I was on. I have finally lifted my truck, added a bull bar, tinted windows snoked out lights...

Anyway, I want to go up a bit more, I think its an addiction. I want to get another 2" to 3". So far this is what I have on my truck.

Fabtech spindle lift with 3" 3LeafFab shackels...Thanks Donahue! They are awesome shackles. I need to replace the shocks soon! They are pretty much shot. I figure If I am going to replace them then I should go ahead and switch out the springs to 5664 Moog spings.
My only question is the rear end. The front should not be to hard to lift a bit more, but the rear, I don't want to mess up. Should I do a axle flip? I don't have much power up hills as it is and i don't want to spend a bunch of money. My concern is the tilt of the drive shaft and what I will have to do to modify it to be level with the front.
I'm already extended on a beefy 3" shackle with a leaf under axle. What to do, any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: How High?

Hey man, thanks for the spindles haha got them on and all, looks pretty good now just need to save up buy a few more things and some 33s lol.

I just put some leaf spring helpers on the rear end of my noma and I have the exact same set up your talking about except the aim spindles lol.

But yeah if I were you I would either do and aal [add a leaf] or get some leaf spring helpers.

Re: How High?

I dont think I can do an add a leaf when the spring goes under the axle. it will lower the rear end. Thats why I have a shackle on it now. You won't fit 33's under your truck with that spindle lift. You will need a lift spring a custom upper A arm and a body lift just to make it fit. I'm rubbing with 31's under a Fabteck spindle and a 2" body lift.

Re: How High?

Add a leaf will lift it, its blocks that lower with spring under.

Why not do a body lift?

Re: How High?

So an add a leaf will lift the rear end even if the leafs go under the truck?

QUOTE]Why not a body lift?[/quote]

I agree why not? I have a 2" body lift. Who said anything about not having one?

Re: How High?

Sorry guess I missed that.

Yeah it will still lift, it incress the load and arch of the spring.

A long AAL will lift less, and very slighty change the ride.

A short AAL will lift more, but give it a lil rougher ride.

Or you can do air shocks.

Or a combo of the two.

Re: How High?

An air shock is a bit to pricey, and i want about 2" to 3" of lift. I don't think that a leaf spring will do all that with the rear end

Re: How High?

You can add both long and short AAl's but it will affect your ride.

Re: How High?

Go with 2" body lift

Your shocks should be nearly at full extension with 3" shackle lift so I'd ercommend zr2 shocks in rear, its longer and no modification is needed. Check on your brake line if they may be stretching as well.

Re: How High?

Put stock shackles back on and do a SOA. That will give you5 inches.
I cant hardly believe 31'srub with what you have so far. I had 31's on a previous 2 wd with 3 inch body lift and no rub.

Your truck actually look slike it clears your tires. That what i want. I have never done a rear axle flip though, and I don't want vibrations in my drive shaft either. I have a shop can go to and use a lift for cheap by the hour, but I need the right tools.

Re: How High?

Yes mne clears ok. I have soa in the rear and there is no vibration. The only clearance issue i have, and its minimal, is the body mount right behind the front tires when i turn wheels all the way.

Re: How High?

That my problem too. The emergency brake behind the fender gets in the way. My body lift is 2 inches though, not 3. I didnt want to have to mess with my steering shaft with a 3 inch body lift I would have had to with my year truck. I have rattleing noises now too. Trying to work out.

Re: How High?

I didnt have to do anything to the steering shaft on my 96. It uses the same shaft as yours.
Explain this rattle to me a bit. I had a weird rattle too. Id finally figured it out after a few days. Mine was like a mettle buzz. Kind of.

Re: How High?

Mine is nothing like metal on metal. Its more like something that is wiggling around but it is muffled through the floorboard. It can be felt through the floorboard though, so I know its coming from the steering. I am going to get some clothes on from being lazy today after a long night of drinking, and get out there and check it out. I will try and post some pictures, if I find anything out of the ordinary.
