Slamology Hosting World Motor Sports Breast Cancer Foundation

Indianapolis, Indiana – Slamology will host The World Motor Sports Breast Cancer Foundation (WMSBCF) at the 6th annual car, truck, and music festival at the Marion County Fairgrounds Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21.

The WMSBCF is based in the motor sports industry and is the only charitable organization that raises money for victims of breast cancer.

“We discovered that individuals themselves were going through hard times financially and though they may see some of the benefits of research, they weren’t seeing any of the money being donated,” said Dr. Thomas Pollard, WMSBCF CEO.

The foundation also provides grants to victims and free mammograms and educational programs.

”I was in Louisville actually, and so many of the women didn’t have insurance. They would say they found a lump and their doctor wanted them to get a mammogram, but they couldn’t afford it,” Pollard said.

This urged him to create the foundation to help alleviate the financial hardship for breast cancer victims and their families.

“We want to raise $2 million. This provides 200 $10,000 grants for victims of breast cancer to do with what they choose, whether it be a vacation to Disney World with their family or buying groceries,” Pollard added.

This is the first event of the year that the WMSBCF is attending.

Slamology was selected as the first show because of it large attendance of motor sport enthusiasts from throughout the Midwest. The two-day car and truck show is expecting thousands to attend.

Pollard said, "The Slamology event provides the Foundation with the best kick off to 2009.”

Slamology is a unique automotive event created for enthusiasts, spectators, media groups, custom automotive shops, distributors, and manufacturers alike. The event has created a bond with all entities involved in the automotive industry, as well as given the community a look into the heavily populated and ever growing sport of customizing vehicles.

The Foundation is planning on debuting a re-done show car for the event. They will also have models signing autographs, items for purchase and free educational materials on breast cancer.

Slamology still has vendor spots available, and is currently accepting pre-registration for vehicles. Participant registration is $30.00 and ends June 12. Registrations will also be accepted at the event for $50.00. One day spectator tickets are offered at $10.00 and two day tickets are $15.00. Kids age 10 and under are admitted free. For more information or to pre-register, visit www.slamology.com or call 317-856-1810. For more information or to donate to the WMSBCF, visit their website at www.worldmotorsportsbcf.org.
