Yet another fuel plumbing question
I REALLY hate to ask this because I'm sure that it has been answered somewhere on here, BUT....
Can anyone tell me what fittings i need to adapt -6an line to a stock 2.2 fuel filter and -6an line to stock return line. I've read every fuel thread i could find on here for the past 5 hours and i'm really tired and all i can find is stuff about the vette setups and I dont need a vette filter. I have a return fuel rail on an 01 4.8 and my 97 S-10 used a return system so I wanna keep it that way. I did find everything i needed to connect the lines to the fuel rail itself (thanks to blackx and philintx's stickies), I just can't figure out what fittings I need on the other end of the new lines to hook to the existing lines under the truck. My truck is 190 miles away at my buddies house so i can't just run out there and look at it and I need to order these parts by tomorrow at the latest so any help is appreciated. |

Re: Yet another fuel plumbing question
I got mine at www.summitracing.com and ordered Russell GM quick disconnect 3/8" and 5/16" to -6AN. I also bought 2 6 ft. lengths of -6AN stainless stell braided line that was the PERFECT length to my C5 return fuel rail. I mean just a perfect length!
If I could do it over I would have spent the exta $ and went with anodized black instead of blue. Those blue fittings stick out like a sore thumb against the all stock/factory GM parts. So to sum it up: 3/8" feed line, 5/16" return line Russell GM quick disconnect fittings. Sorry no part number |

Re: Yet another fuel plumbing question
Thanks for the help guys.
So I will need two RUS-640850's, one for the fuel rail, the other for the filter then I will need two RUS-640860's, one for the fuel rail and the other for the line under the truck. Then 4 -6an summit hose ends and some braided line. Woohoo, with any luck I will fire this monster up this weekend if I can get all my parts in time. Thanks guys. |

Re: Yet another fuel plumbing question
Just to finish out this thread, I got the fuel system completed on my truck this weekend and got to fire it up for the first time.
For future reference if anyone is searching and runs across this thread, here is what i did for my fuel system. My truck was originally a 97 2.2, I put a 2001 4.8 Silverado engine in it. The 2001 Silverado motor has A RETURN SYSTEM. I did NOT need a vette filter or anything like that. I put a 97 4.3 fuel pump in the tank. I used a stock 97 fuel filter (single in single out). I purchased two RUS-640850's, two RUS-640860's, four Summit -6AN braided line ends and 20 foot of braided line. You don't need 20 foot of line, 15 would probably do it. I purchased a lot because I had never done this before and wanted to buffer room. |

Re: Yet another fuel plumbing question
i wish it were that easy... my other computer, which contains all my swap data, is down at the moment. D:
heres a quick list of the parts i used, i believe the flex fuel trucks are a bit different. part numbers listed are FMSI numbers *this setup is not for pre 98 trucks* 1/4" x 25' nylon line 2997 -25 (for evap) 5/16" x 25' nylon line 2962 - 25 (need 4') 3/8" x 25' nylon line 2998 - 25 (need 8') 1/4" union 2994 (for evap) 5/16" union 2959 3/8" union 3220 1/4" clamp 2940 (need 2, for evap) 5/16" clamp 2980 (need 2) 3/8" clamp 2982 (need 2) 5/16" quick connect 2979 3/8" quick connect straight (need 3) 2978 **3/8" quick connect 90° 3154 3/8" x 4" steel line 3295 **some truck intakes work better with the 90° connect, thus you only need two straight connects (2978) http://www.fmsiinc.com stock lines off the tank ![]() new line attached ![]() lines on the filter ![]() hope this helps! |
