Winter mods Stage II

So, while chasing phantom exhaust leaks, today I discovered my manifolds were cracked at just about every weld, putting a straight edge on them showed that they were warped as well... Didnt make sence to just build new manifold and keep everything the same, so here is whats being done:

New stainless manifolds/crossover
stainless 4" downpipe
Garret GT42R with 82mm/1.15 a/r
-8AN fuel feed line from tank to intake
Edelbrock Victor Jr intake
Edelbrock 90deg Elbow
Edelbrock 90mm TB
Edelbrock Fuel Rals
Aeromotive Boost referenced fp regulator
Driveshaft safety loop
AlkyControl meth kit
low profile CalTracs

should get more interesting now..

Also found out my old turbo was Precision 72GTS with .96 A/R ..

if you got some time would you take a good pic of your coil brackets. I need to make a set of those.

Re: Winter mods Stage II

I know I havent updated this thread in a while, ran into some problems with the motor. 20+ PSI boost and couldnt make any power on the dyno, turns out compression was 120 on all cylinders. All internals were fine, turns out it was just the way engine builder put the motor together. Had to get another block for a core, and have a different builder put it all back together. At the same time, changed the cam as per new builders recommendations, and swapped the heads for some TrickFlow 225s. Got it on the dyno yesterday, at 18PSI of boost im now having different problems, see the vid

Yep, thats pretty much what happened. I could have been happy with 11.2x @ 122 that the truck was doing, but then you know how one thing leads to another... The only thing thats still left from how I bought the truck, is the motor mounts

I now have all the hotside parts to build another S10, manifolds/crossover/downpipe/turbo, gonna post it up for sale soon

Re: Winter mods Stage II

Why do you suppose the manifolds cracked at the welds?Shitty welds or from the heat and cool down on them? If thats the case, then I damn sure aint going to waste my time on using the stock manifolds....

Re: Winter mods Stage II

I didnt have stock manifolds on the truck, i had some custom made stainless ones. The reason i believe it cracked was too much stress, there was no flex pipe or anything on the crossover, lots of stress everywhere.
