Where did you find your LS1?

Hey guys, I just received some sad news. I had already set up the purchase of a ls1/t56 and all accessories and wiring from a friends 2004 gto with 24k miles for one hell of a deal. Well I got the call from him telling me that his father decided he wants to rebuild the gto instead, kind of a late life crisis.

Well, now my problem is, I was so close to getting the perfect low mileage set up for a good deal, now I am wanting to find new places to look.

For those that have done the swap, where did you get your engine (and trans)?

I have now pretty much dismissed ebay, as many times I feel that they go for way more than they are worth. Are yours coming from wrecked cars of friends and family? salvage yards? classifieds? other auctions? ....ebay?

Thanks in advance guys!

Member andrew69_04 sells a bunch of engine packages. I would start with him and he has a high feedback over on LS1Tech.com under the same name.

Re: Where did you find your LS1?

Andrew, thanks for your pm, i replied. Anyway, I have a question about craigslist and about websites like car-part.

On craigslist, is there anyway to search a wider area besides by town? Like, to search just Iowa, illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc. besides having to just seach individual towns/cities?

On car-part, is there anyway to do a generic search for, say, an ls1? It seems that i have to specify a specific year and model.

As far as car-parts is concerned, it will list anything that is a direct interchange, with the item you're looking for, but does not support generic matching

Re: Where did you find your LS1?

on car-part.com. if you want ls1 then search for like 2001 camaro or vette. if you are wanting a ls based type engine then the silverado will work. they are different size engine you can use. 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 they pretty much look the same with ls6 intake on them.
