Wheel and Tire Question

Hey guys I have been doing alot of research on the forum and need a little help. Im not sure if this the right area but I figured this would be the best place to ask. I am doing a LSx swap into a 1998 S10. The plans for the motor are to have about 450 horse and right around the same torque rating. I dont mind doing a minitub in the bed but I want the truck to be streetable. What are you guys with 2nd gens doing for wheel and tire combos and rearends? I want fatter tires in back with pizza cutters up front. Any pictures with specs would be great. If this is in the wrong place please move it. Thanks guys

Re: Wheel and Tire Question

A lot of guys use traction bars or 4 link setup in the rear. Almost any tire width can be accomplished with the right offest or spacers. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Rear end choice all depends on how you will treat it. If youre a 1/4 miler look into a ford 8.8 or something, otherwise the stock 10 bolt will do.

I am using my 7.5 10 bolt (had it rebuilt with gears, posi, etc.) with no problems, but I only have a little 4.8.

Re: Wheel and Tire Question

Im thinking Cal-Tracs bars out back. My question is whats the biggest tire and wheel combo without shortening the axle. Also what would the backspacing be? and has anyone run pizza cutters up front?

Re: Wheel and Tire Question

It will be 450 horse at first. The plan is to build the motor with the specs to add a Procharger within a year of it being completed. Or another possibility is 450 horse on the motor and a decent shot of nitrous.

Re: Wheel and Tire Question

I run corvette wheels. 11 inches wide in the back. 315 35 ZR17 tires.

For a 2WD you need a 2 inch spacer. They don't tuck, but they don't stick out either.
