Its coming out of the original harness that leads to the heater box and what not....

Pretty sure that is the connector for the A/C compressor wiring.
We would have either had the mating plug on the new harness, or just a green wire hanging out there that was labeled to splice in. |

my 87 has a more of a flat type connector with 2 prongs and i think that it is green and black wires.

That's the problem with the square body trucks, that connector seems to be different every year, and the book is almost always wrong as far as what the connector actually is.

Maybe it like the oil sending unit.no that's near the oil filter. Oil pressure gauge? Something for the distributor or ign.
