what cam for my swap eliminating the VVT & DOD

ahhhh i give up!

i tried keeping the VVT & DOD but came to a dead end and short on money. in order for me to keep the VVT i need another $2200 for another engine harness and ecm that can control the VVT.

now i'm gonna eliminate the VVT & DOD and installing a cam, valves & springs along with the rest of the other parts i need to change. so practically i'll have a LS3 engine when i'm done.

really dont know what cam to run, i'm looking for some help from guys who already been through cam swaps and felt what its like. just need a streetable cam that wont consume too much gas. also leaving the stock pistons and crank the engine has only 8000 miles.

if budget is your primary concern, i think going with an LS6 cam is your best choice

The 02-05 LS6 Camshaft is very mild, has a baby butt smooth idle and is capable of making good power.

There are scores of aftermarket cams that will also do the same.

Another great cam is the Lingenfelter GT2-3

207/220 .571/.578 w 1.7 rocker 118.5 CL

This is a very mild cam with a stock idle speed.

I'd recommend contacting Comp Cams or one of the other big names, give them your combination and what you are looking for and let them do their job.

I went with this cam in my 6 liter:

Comp Cams XR-256HR-15, high lift
212/218, .558/.563, 115

Again, I need a smooth idle and must be able to pass emissions.

I have a comp 212/218 115lsa with less than 500 miles on it . Works great with the factory stall. $250 shipped to you.

thunder racing's CheatR cam is great if you want to retain close to stock sound/driveability/powerband but will give you a good bit more power. only thing is you'd have to upgrade your valvetrain to handle it since lift is right at .600.

Have you checked out SLP maybe the

51016
Valve Lift (1.7) Duration@.006 Duration@.050 int: .591" 273º 224º ex: .600" 278º 228º

or the 51014

Thats too bad, Ive seen dyno curves of a 6.2L(with just headers)that made 400+lbft from 2500-6200RPM and 425hp. Cam Phasers are awesome!
