I don't think there are many guys putting 4.8s in s10s. There are a few videos of guys with 5.3s, 6.0, and ls1s however.

is there a reason nobody is putting 4.8's in S10's? not worth the hasle?

I guess most people are thinking why put in a 4.8 when they could put in a 5.3 or better.

its all about the price 5.3's are easier to come across, but if you get a hell of a deal *free* on a 4.8 then do it.

i can't imagine a 4.8 getting really any better mileage than a 5.3, i wouldn't even bother with the 4.8, 5.3's are much more common and easier to get hold of. in the end i would doubt that there is even 1 mpg difference

oh and i forgot, these motors in these small trucks get damn good mileage from the get go, my ls1(5.7) gets 24mpg and thats on a stout tune, if you keep it to a moderate tune you could easily get 26-28 out of a 5.3 with the correct gearing
