Truck 5.3L/98 Sonoma Test Fit Update
I have read a lot about concern for hood clearance with the truck manifold. I just finished test fitting an '04 LM4 into a 98 Sonoma using Jared's latest mounts. Using the bottom holes (meaning the engine sits higher) and with the engine more forward, I can close my hood and do not even see any impressions from the intake on the hood mat. I still have the option to lower the engine and move it back but will wait until I bolt up the tranny. Right now just want to accurately mark the frame for the compressor notch and test fit the headers.
I had to clean off a little bit of the welds on the mount brackets so when I installed the bolts w/washers in the block, I could slide the bracket full forward/backward. Probably unnecessary since the middle of the slot is probably where it will end up, but I wanted to be able to get full movement of the engine, if needed. Other than that, the mounts/brackets fit PERFECTLY. Great job, Jared. |

Just a suggestion but, did you test fit the hood with the accesories on? I believe the alternator comes pretty close to the hood if you are using the truck accesories. Good Luck!!

oh, I didn't think about that, your right its the alternator and the throttle body, along with a sensor that hit the hood. did the TB clear because if it did then everything else should be fine.

Yes, that test fit was with intake and alternator.

Re: Truck 5.3L/98 Sonoma Test Fit Update
The header is touching the orange cover on the rod, just barely. Will probably pull the rod and have it modded for piece of mind.
