Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
Thanks for all the help so far everyone. I called Jared today and he said I needed O2 sensors for a 99-02 camaro so I ordered them immidately after and put them on my truck and it seemed to behave much better, it got up to temp and I took it around the block and everything was perfect. thinking this fixed the problem I got in a back alley and ripped the tires clean through 3rd and almost lost control and wrecked into a dumpster
man that was fun. But anway, right after that it started doing it a again...FUCK! Limped it back to the shop, shut it off, let it sit for 10 mins, fire it up and it runs perfect again WTF! I hooked it to an OBD2 scanner and it said the idle air motor could be bad which might explain why it takes the idle a min to come back down, but im gonna try and replace that anyway, I dont know what else to do.![]() Last edited by KJF95S-10 : 01-07-2009 at 10:04 PM. |

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
haha I put shreveports finest because thats where s10's are made and I like s10s. But anyway updates.....I took the truck and started the tuning until the tranny stopped shifting on its own and wont have 1st gear and starts out in second and lost 4th so im getting ready to replace it with a 4L65e I got here at the shop. I didnt finish the map session of the tunning at faster proms but MAN does it pull hard for having a fucked tranny and half ass tune. 100 mph is just childs play, Oh and the constant fouling of the plugs was mostly in part do to my 02 sensor wiring harness being criss crossed. I also had bought a narrowed 8.5 10 bolt housing from a 79 camaro and built it up with a auburn LSd richmond 3.73, crush sleeve eliminator and a t/a girdle to hold it together....here are some pics and 2 vids for now

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
Started on the tranny swap. I got a 4L65e from an 05 escalade. But yea, this is such a PITA to change this thing. I cant believe how bad everything wants to hit the tranny tunnel, esp on the drivers side.
![]() Had to cut a hole on the firewall to access that bellhousing bolt ![]() The engine ![]() hole ![]() since I forgot to post pics of the exhaust I took some while it was out ![]() ![]() The 65L is already in and I got most of the hard shit out of the way. Just gotta hook up the exhaust, crossmember and drive shaft and I should be back on the road. |

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
Ooook. The truck shifts like a dream and I couldnt be happier. I picked it up from CP wiring last week and have been driving it to school since. The shifting problem turned out to be 2 wires on the a/c low pressure switch in the wrong pins. I figured it would be something completely retarded and I would go and change the tranny for nothing but at least I have a 4L65 in it now.lol Jared fixed it free of charge on his personal time. and took responsibility for it, more great customer service to attest for CP wiring. But to be honest, it does help to live only 30 miles from the place.lol
Dont get me wrong, I love the bone stock sleeper look of the truck and it freaks out sooo many ppl that would never expect it to have a 5.3 in it, but I ordered some new C6 vette rims for it today cuz the stock 205 tires just wont hook up at all even with the badass 3.73 posi. But anyway......fotos!!! ![]() ![]() |

Sure you don't want to just widen your steel wheels and put some fat rubber on them? Paint them black. |

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
I might do that to a separate set just for the hell of it, but the other night driving home on I-275 I was playing with a new porsche 911 carerra 4s and he flew past me just thinking it was a stock pos s10 then he got the biggest downshift from hell and quickly realized it wasnt stock The moral of this story is, I think he went out and started looking for a fast car after friday night.haha I love this thing |

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
Well heres the truck as it is now. 5/5 drop and I put on new ZR1 replicas with a 285/35/19 tire rear and 245/35/18 tire up front. It wants to hook up alot better now with these tires but the wheel hop got 100x's worse. Time for caltracs. I definitly don't think theres another s10 quite like mine now.lol Hope you like it.

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
Thanks so much for the compliments guys. After im out of school I want to do a rear mount turbo right where the x-pipe is now, and order some 60# injectors as well. But my question is, how much boost is the stock ecu capable of accounting for? Also what kind of turbos are alot of the lsx guys using for single applications? I was gonna just order a big ass holset because I hear these engines can spool damn near anything. Thoughts?

I got 500 for the trany because it had virtually no miles on it. Started making some of the exhaust plumbing for the turbo.

what is that clamped into the middle of the top coolant hose coming off the radiator? does that top rad hose heat soak your intake?

Re: The 95 LS10 "green machine"
The hose you are talking about leads to the coolant steam crossover tube on the heads. It's for relieving coolant pressure in the heads, all LSX's have them. I just ran mine back into the upper rad hose. |

That is the truck alt bracket looks like it....he moved the pulley that is usually under the truck intake over onto the truck alt bracket for clearance for the car intake
