Quick truck oil pan question

For those of you who have used a truck pan on your build, you obviously had to notch the cross member, but my question is how close does the pan sit from the top of the cross member, mine is pretty darn close, maybe 1/4" if not a little less. Its nothing that an engine limiter wont prevent from being a problem and im not to worried, just curious as to weather or not others have noticed this/done anything about it.

Re: Quick truck oil pan question

1/4" is a good call. I have a little more but I used spacer plates under the 2.8L mounts to push the motor up a hair. Now I have about 7/16" clearance. It doesn't matter really as long as you cut whatever you need out then box it back in with 1/4" plating and a strong welder. The boxed in portion will end up stronger than stock once you're done. Or at least it should be....

Re: Quick truck oil pan question

When i crashed mine the frame rail bent behind the cross member and the cross member was still straight so strength is not an issue
