you trans can work. there are other posts on that topic as well. basically, if you use your stock tranny there is a possibility that it wont last. as for the bellhousing, it does bolt up. a few holes dont line up, but there are enough for it to work.
none of your accessories will not work at all. |

All lsx based motors will not fit your accessories with stock brackets. At least you have a 4.3 and the radiator still may work, throttle and cruise cables work, fuel lines/ pump work. Hell I had the 2.2l and had to get lots of stuf you won't. Most people need to get a driveshaft cut I didn't need to my driveshaft fit prefect. One last thing is you should have posi and you may want to find a 8.5 rear with 3.42 or 3.73 cause 7 5/8 will work just how long?

Re: questions on how to swap a ls1 into a 2001 with a 4.3
First off look at this link the cheapest crate you can get is a LQ9 at 3,749
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...ges=1&pkgid=22 Second you should goto this link and read alot about this engine swap http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=424515 Since you are worried about smog my opinion is that you should buy an engine trans from a wreaked 2001 or newer lsx based vehicle with transmission which will be about the same price as a new crate. If you get a corvette engine you have to get different headers and a camaro throttle body. If you get a motor from anthing else you have to buy all the corvette accessories and headers. Also, when doing this swap you have to decide on a different oil pan. modified 5.3 truck pan is what most do. I did a ls2 corvette oil pan cause there are no clearance problems with a bagged or lowered truck. |
