Question On Aluminum 5.3's
Today I called a few wreckers looking for Aluminum 5.3's from a 2003 Trailblazer/ Envoy.
One guy I spoke to suggested a 5.3 all aluminum LH6 Vin M engine from a 2007 Silverado 1500 that they had. Said it's the LH6 is the newer improved version of the L4M aluminum 5.3's and has more hp and the price was $1200 Canadian over the 2003's $2500. Would the newer engine bolt up to the 4.3's accessories as well? That's my question. Thanks!!! Last edited by Sleeper S10 : 08-01-2008 at 04:40 PM. |

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
i dont think that junkyard motor is worth 1200 with no accesories. and the lh6 has AFM so i'm pretty sure you would pretty much need the complete engine: go fast pedal, accessories would be a plus and definitly need the ecu for that engine

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
It's a drive wire motor and doesn't use a throttle cable, so you'd need all those parts to make it work |

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
I think he means it has the drive by wire TB so you would need the gas pedal to it also.

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
I had a aluminum 5.3 out of a 06 z71, But sold it back to the guy I bought it from because I'm on to bigger and better things...
If you are doing the swap, I would want an aluminum engine setting under my hood if you can get one versus an iron block. $1200 bucks for an aluminum 5.3 is a steal if its got low miles!!! Last edited by s10-den : 08-02-2008 at 07:10 AM. |

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
I know those newer engines, just like the LS2 have the 58 tooth reluctor wheel on the crank that might need E- throttle body to function or at the least the newer computer. Jerad @ Current Performance would be able to answer that question.
Still, 1200 for an all aluminum engine isn't bad if you get all the goodies to go with it Nate |

Re: Question On Aluminum 5.3's
yeah, i was talking about the DBW gas pedal, if it has a 58x reluctor ring, it has to be DBW, otherwise you'll have to pull the crank and press a 24x onto it, to have a cable driven TB, plus if you want to keep the AFM feature from the LH6, then it has to be DBW, not too sure about what his goals are as far as if its a DD, strip only, or weekend warrior?
