Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

Trying. Still need valley cover gasket, before I install the intake (test fitted for now), and also I have to send my harness back to Jared to put new injector plugs. As far as the knock sensors, i have to fine some from a 00 silverado also for the oil pressure sensor.

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

Do you have to find some from a '00 so that the harness just hasn't have to be redone? Same with oil pressure sensor?

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

He said the newer sensor won't work with the ECM, so I just have to find older sensors. I'm having a hard time finding them.

Also I can't the damn harmonic balancer on to save my life. I bought a balancer installer tool, but that shit don't work. It won't even fit inside the crank.

I have to use a bolt to pull it on. I'll just have to buy one. The book says it needs to be m16x2.0x120mm

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

Got her all ready to go in tomorrow.

Headers all primed and painted.

Tanny all bolted up along with trailblazer torque converter.

Was only able to get 7 bolts in the transmission, some bolts didn't line up. This one didn't work with the H3 pan.

There was not hole in the block for this bolt (wierd). Why make a bolt hole in the tranny but not in the block.

I tested the tranny plugs before i ship the harness back to Jared Monday. All fit no problem, but this one had no place to go WHAT IS IT.

Heres all the tranny plugs

And here she sleeps all ready for her big day tomorrow. Anyone know if
I can put the headers on after I set the motor in the truck.

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

Well after fighting this bitch for an hour i finally got her in, but a bunch of clearance problems.

Heres the steering shaft hitting the header hard. I'll have to uses steves (zx9rgreen) idea and put washers on the back of the steering box to angle the shaft a little.

Next problem is i had to remove the blower box to get the motor in and now it sits so close to the firewall i can't get it back on. Going to have to modify it to clear the head. One problem is its a blazer and the motor sits too high.

Next is the passenger side header is less than 1/4 of an inch from hitting the firewall, so who ever does my exhaust is going to have to beat the firewall in.

I'm not sure if this is a problem yet. Its not hitting but its pretty close.

Heres the truck intake I thought about running on it, but as you can see in the pictures I will have hood clearance issues, really disappointed cause i was thinking of running the truck intake for a little while.

And the final pic is the whole truck. It acually sits pretty level so far being that its a bigger motor, and its lowered an inch more in the front than the back. But still a bunch of shit to go on.

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

If everything were easy it wouldn't be fun would it...haha...Other than having to take care of those lil things I bet it feels good to get it in there..I wonder if that u-joint steering mod I mentioned earlier would help with that header issue?? And it looks good sitting in there!!!

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

That flange on the header close to the firewall can be modified if you don't want to beat the firewall in. Cutting the flange off, trimming the tube at a slight downward angle then re-welding the flange on should solve that problem. I'm sure the exhaust shop could do that if you don't have the equipment for it.
And, the shroud can be trimmed to clear the water pump pulley threads.

Yea i could probably do that, but it sounds like a lot of work. I think it would be easier to knock the fire wall in 1/2 in. As far as the flange on the water pump its not hitting yet.

might want to do a check on those heads.... they have the symbol for castee and Im not sure on the year range but they had a major problem with the coolant passages leaking and you would end up with coolant in the oil. Just FYI

Hmmm, does your mounts have two holes or just one?Like the older smallblock mounts have two holes, one for the trucks and another for the blazers.Because of the motor towers on the blazer chassis,it alows you to lower the motor.

Re: Project: 5.3 4l65e 4 door blazer

Well some good news today. Got the blower box back on. It wouldn't clear, but then removed the rubber protecter (don't know if i need it) and it fits now by 1/8 in. Also bolted the coil packs on and they clear the blower box and the brake booster. And finally the power steering pulley clears the steering box. heres the pics.

You can see on this pic i couldn't get the last bolt in the coil pack dues to how close it is. But who needs 4 bolts.

Either notch the hood, redo engine mounts to lower engine as well as notch the x-member, or get the corvette accessory brackets.

Try looking at some older 350 and 4.3 alternators im pretty sure they bolt right up and some are smaller. Some of the newer full size trucks also had a smaller alternator but im not sure specifically which models had it.

the CS144 case would bolt to the bracket, but i dont know if it would work since it would be replacing a DR44 that hes got on there...they are different than the AD244's that are a direct replacement for the CS144's. i think the plug is different?

Wow,, after reading this whole post I must say good job.. Plus it's really nice to see people chip in to help out without protest. This will be me doing a swap hopefully soon.. As far as mufflers go, check out DNA mufflers.. I have 2 in the basement that I haven't had put on, but I have heard them and they are great.. No pop and a bang off the rev either, just smooth all the way back down. I like borla too and have always ran it, but I have these waiting to be put on.. Keep up the good work.

Jay
