i have been in a steady search for a 5.3 and a trans and in my area seems somewhat difficult to find a decent combo....i contacted a gentleman from cpw and asked his input for a salvage yard around the area....well this yard has a 5.3 and a trans from a 04 solverado with 60,000 on it and the engine is 1000 and the trans is 650 and was rebuilt by gm.....but i also have a buddy with a 5.3 block and heads that have been ported and polished with titanium valves and springs and has offered it to me and i said how much and he said he dont know....so my questions are is 1650 a good deal for a basicly stock motor and what is my buddies block and heads worth and which route would you guys go with ....? thanks in advance for any responses.

if you go on car-part.com you can look at the whole state you live in and check for a 5.3 engine call the place and ask them about the whole setup.
