Re: Power steering pump

Go to the auto parts store near you and rent or borrow their pulley puller. It's pretty simple. Putting it back on was alittle harder, but easy enuff.

Re: Power steering pump

My 3 jaw puller won't make the pulley budge. Any other suggestions. Put the impact to it, then tried to use the guns and nothing. This mother is on there.

Re: Power steering pump

the 3 jaw puller won't do it. You need the one that looks like this

But be carefull with it, I pulled my truck acc power steering pully, put on my 2.2 pully (stuck out too far) pulled it back off and was in the process of putting the truck pully back on and the threads ripped off the puller. Your right man that mother is on there because a BFH wont even budge one going on.

Re: Power steering pump

All i remember is the topmost bolt lookin thing screws into the center of the shaft. I can't remember how it all goes together because my buddy assembled it and i just turned it.

I rented the tool from autozone but since it broke before i could finish getting the pully on, i have to buy one. Luckily harbor freight tools has one for $17 down the road.

Re: Power steering pump

that big fat round thing grabs the front of the pulley, no other way to pull it off without breaking the pulley.. unless youre lucky. and yes, it threads into the shaft, so make sure those threads are somewhat clean

Re: Power steering pump

are you running a smaller pulley or just trying to replace the pump?

Re: Power steering pump

when you buy the kwik one look throu there website and buy one of the pullies that they suggest it has holes in it that way you only have to install the pulley one time you can get to the bolts through the holes. Just run buy any mech shop they snatch would snatch that pulley off for you in just a few min

Re: Power steering pump

I used the harbor freight puller and it worked fine(I may have bought one actually) , I also has 2 of the bolt/nuts used to install the pulley back on. Give me a shout this afternoon and I will look around the shop to see if I can locate it.
