Power Steering help

One of the hard lines that are coming off the power steering pump is running into the steering box. Anyone know a solution to fixing this? i could try turning it but its soder'd to the pump where it bends.

Re: Power Steering help

well i dont need the hoses, i have hoses, im just trying to figure out how to move the short hard line thats connected to the pump itself. The bends that are in it hit the power steering box

Re: Power Steering help

i made friend with the pepboys counter girl, and she let me go fish through some boxes to find a fitting with a bend that worked. I got a shiny blue one for $12. i have no idea what it came out of, but it works for me. I just cut the hose off the opposite end, flared my other fitting, and hose clamped it on.

Re: Power Steering help

well... follow this.

Threaded end into steering box. Hard line comes out and crimped on is a rubber hose. Go to the other end of that hose and cut the opposite crimped end off.

Now, your line that you already have for the opposite end, use a pipe cutter and cut the hard line just inside the crimped section. use a brake line FLARE tool and flare the hard line. Then negotiate it into the rubber hose from piece #1.

It will not stay in with the pressure if you do not flare the end. It will pop out. soooo, try that! i've had it on for over 2k miles now.

Re: Power Steering help

Ill try that if what were doing wont work. Found out that the power steering pump and pulley bolts right up to the truck acc. and the pulley even lines up to! Just making some trims on the bracket for the pump to fit in correctly.

Re: Power Steering help

Well just found out, some cutting ont he truck bracket for the power steering pump, the pump off my 92 s10 with the 2.8 is an exact fit (other than the cutting on bracket) and the pulley is also! Just had to cut the top of one of the bolts off just a little bit for the pulley, but the pulley does line up with the others
