Re: Petro's Project

That can't be in the casting process, check this out... and the Jegs stamped one is the exact same but it looks like the plug is on the opposite side.

This is what my dad's 12 bolt has on the Camaro, it's pretty sweet looking I think

Re: Petro's Project

Hmmm..I hadn't seen the JEGS one before...I have seen a TA one before but with the letters raised and not shiny...Nice find 01cherryred...I myself didn't think it was in the casting process but the Rep from Moser said he checked and that it was..The TA and Moser look to be the exact same...

Re: Petro's Project

The help to reduce ring gear deflection which makes the gears last longer. And help keep the housing from flexing when under load. (stomping on the gas) Which in turn keeps the ring gear from exploding.

Re: Petro's Project

List of stuff I still need for the Engine;

~ Corvette Accessories Package
~ Vette Oil Pan
~ GTO/Vette or Truck coil packs and brackets
~ TB
~ New oil pressure sensor
~ New cam postion sensor
~ Valve Covers

If I keep finding deals then I'll only have about $2,500 in the engine. I may end up buying a Trans from Finish Line since it will withstand future mods.

Re: Petro's Project

I got my intake in today and they sent me wrong one..doesn't really matter though since I'm going to have to rebuild the engine. Bent pushrod , Bent Valve , Nasty Crud throughout block , flaky rust on cylinder wall , and some weird objects on lifter tray. Hopefully complete teardown this weekend. I'm going to pressed with time coming up here soon. We are bumping up feild training getting ready for deployment so that means lots of nights spent out in the field. Gotta love the Infantry...I'm going to buy , beg , and borrow for miscellaneous tools to rebuild this thing... ..Since I have to do this freshen-up I'm going with different heads and intake... A L76 intake and L92 heads setup...Hopefully this all goes smoothly

Bye Bye LS2 243 Heads and LS6 intake

Looks like a nice build. Are you on SSR? I'm from Savannah as well and just picked up an Hombre that I'd like to get decent looking and such.

Nice rear axle, I got one under my dime too. I love my 4 wheel ABS disc brakes. But your brake set up is gonna be sick.

I cant wait to see some more progress pics.

Re: Petro's Project

Alright time for some updates... Since I am having to give the engine a "freshen up" it will be setting me back temporarily. I have to buy some tools that I don't have and so on. Which is kinda of cool cause I like tools and gives me a excuse with the wife. I bought a new 1,000LB Engine Stand , Feeler Gauges , Punches , Pry Bar , Chisel , and my buddy gave me a brand new Armstrong Torque Wrench for free!!! Some of those tools aren't needed for the rebuild but bought them anyway.. ...Still have a few tools to get but not too worried about it til the time comes. I have the block almost completely disassembled it should be ready for a good cleaning by tomorrow..Here are some pics of where I am at now...I will give a update later on the planned engine upgrades I plan on doing while it is apart...

Awesome score on the torque wrench.. Armstrong is top of the line...used in industrial applications...This one is for Ft. Lbs...still need one for In. Lbs...

Re: Petro's Project

Block is completely disassembled and should be getting cleaned here shortly. Assembly will begin right after I get it back. Still trying to figure out exactly what cam to get. I've changed my mind on minor things like using ARP head bolts instead of the studs. Anyways hopefully will be making more progress here soon!!!

Re: Petro's Project

Hey man why you selling the LS3 intake, didn't you just get it.

You should PM a Mod to move your thread to the LSX section. I keep forgetting about it until you post something then see the link in your sig. I don't look at some of these sections.

Re: Petro's Project

Alright got the LS3 Intake today and TB...They sent a new coolant crossover pipe with the intake so that's cool. I am using a '07 truck TB.
Well here's some pics..

My garage nowadays..there used to be a lot more room in there until lately..haha

I cleaned the tops of the pistons off with a razor blade..Next step mineral spirits cleaning...

LS3 intake with an '07 truck TB and new style LS3 water pump. I figured if the truck TB is good enough for a LS9 then it's good enough for me...haha

New and old coolant crossover tubes:

Took some of the rough edges off the TB to smooth it out. And opened up the inside a lil bit. Still have some sanding to do to polish the it up. But it should look pretty nice when I'm done.

Re: Petro's Project

Got the dremel out this weekend and smoothed the valve covers down. Painted them today along with the bolts...The overall paint scheme I want for the truck is gonna be Gloss Black Frame , Silver Suspension , and maybe a darker cherry color for the body when the time comes...

I looked through your thread a million times and just now noticed the shaved valve covers...pretty cool I never would have thought of that...And your timing cover turned out way better than mine did...I tried for a brushed look and just ended up painting it also...haha...Hopefully I'll know something by the end of the week if I have a deal or not on some parts!!!!

you cant really tell by the pics but part of my alt bracket is brushed too.

if you send me an extra set of valve covers and pay the return shipping i'll do a how too on them, it was time consuming but not too hard. let me know.
