Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
It is different for everyone. Depends on the parts used, mods done to the engine, Transmission used. I think its near impossible for someone to say YOU can do this swap for X dollars.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
I suppose so, I got a 86 s10 and am getting rid of my turbo omni.
I can get a good 5.3 with all everything (ecu, belts, accessories, and all) and the trans for around 1700$. Hopefully I can do the entire swap for 3k or under. I also am wondering what the weak points of the 4L60E tranny are. For next year it will basically be a stock 5.3 with 150 or so of nitrous. |

No difference, just the accesory configuration really. You can purchace and install the Corvette covers on all the LS engines.

FYI, thats the LS1 accessories...i thought the LS2 part # was around here somewhere
EDIT: here it is...19155067, LS2/LS7 still no price though....really all that was different from the LS1/LS6 accessories was the water pump pulley right? part # taken from this post. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f10/20...1/#post3821919 Last edited by Kampz69 : 03-04-2008 at 02:17 PM. |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
For those of you going from a fuel rail with a return on the rail to a returnless rail such as the later corvettes...and use the filter Black X supplies the part # for you will need this fitting to put in the Filter to use a -6 AN fuel like along with 1 of the russel fittings for the fuel rail itself on the intake.
http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...d uct_id=1682 that presses into the filter side u run the -6 AN braided fuel like from that to the russel fitting Black X shows in the first post and that clicks onto the fuel rail...and walla!! as far as the return like from the filter to the line headed back to the pump...i found a pice of stock GM line about a foot long with push on ends on both sides to use... |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Hey, I just got an entire wrecked 2005 4wd yukon, with a low miles 5.3 for next to nothing. I have been reading into this heavily and the general concensus is to swap in a T56 if you want to go manual trans. I have a 95 S-10, 4.3, w 5 speed trans, I hear that the NV3500 has a hard time living up to the torque of a V8, but how weak are they really? I don't have the cash for a T56 at the moment since im buying everything else for the swap. All I really want to do to the 5.3 is put in an LS6 cam, headers, and maybe an LS6 intake down the road. I REALLY don't want an automatic.
Great writeup BTW |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Hey I just figured I would throw this out there. I saw where some people had to buy a piece of quick connect line to attach to the corvette fuel filter outlet so they could get a russell adapter fitting to fit. Well after buying the corvette fuel filter, I returned it and tried one for a 03' 2.2L Flex fuel S-10 like BlackX's. If these pics uploaded correctly the first pic should be the corvette filter (Wix 33737) and the second should be the S-10 one (Wix 33100). The S-10 has the male quick connect outlet already, so all you have to do is snap on the russel fitting and you are good to go. I hope this all makes sense. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Great information, I get asked all the time where to get the piece of quick connect line... I didnt use the vette filter because my truck has the filter shown. Just for anyone needing information the 2.2L Flex fuel filter is GM PART# 15077584 |

Is there a shorter dryer to use? It seems my a/c compressor like black x used is basically making it impossible to use the s10 one.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
This is mostly for Black X since he seems to be the man on this. I am looking to do a 5.3 into a 99 S-10 ZR2. I was looking to use the stock tranny and pretty sure I need a bell housing adapter for it. Any idea what parts I need for this swap. I have email Jared for some info as well.
Thanks, Tom |

Didn't mean to try to offend anyone. It is the stock tranny that came with the 4.3. I believe it is the 4L60 |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Ok this may be a dumb question but yeah..................
I have a LS2 pan, picked up a oil filter for it, used the k&n book, looked up 02 z06 vette, and bought the one it specified. I tried to thread it on and it just barely gets on the first thread and pops off. I was just curious if I got the wrong filter or if my threads F*cked on the pan. Oh and I checked all the years from 02-05 and it says the same filter. Oh and the threads on the pan dont look messed up. Last edited by tuckin22s : 06-22-2008 at 02:22 PM. |

Is the 4.3 TB cable the same in all years? My 91 s10 has the stock 4.3 TB cable still in it and its about 6" too long.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
I've noticed that there is some questions about how to use a 700r4 with LSX engines and i forgot to post what i did so here it is. (originally posted by camaro1 under a different name in ls1tech)
1. the gm gen1,2 trans will bolt to the gen3 engines but you only use 5 bolts, the gen 3 engines do not use the middle bellhousing bolt on the pass side( no big deal) 2. you do not need a special flexplate, the curved 4.8,5.3,LS1- just need the t/c bolt holes ovaled out a bit and the 5.3 flex plates have a set of holes that match the small gm t/c bolt pattern perfect - the 6.0 flat flex plate has the same t/c holes as the large gm pattern(th400 and most aftermarket th350 converters that have a dual t/c bolt pattern on them) 3. you need to use a crankshaft spacer when using a gen1,2 trans and converter there are 2 types: - hughes gen3 crankshaft spacer part # hup-3795 $44 from summit/jegs, this spacer must be used with the curved 4.8,5.3,LS1 flexplates - gm stock 6.0 crankshaft spacer 12563532 and longer bolts 12563533, this spacer can be used with either the flat or curved flexplate ( if using the curved style flexplate the flexplate goes on the crank first then the spacer goes on then the bolts, if using the flat 6.0 flexplate the spacer goes on the crankshaft first then the flexplate then the bolts) now for my help 4. TV cable setup. I used the TV kit from Bowtie Overdrives, and I'm very happy with how it works. In order for this kit to work you must use a cable driven throttle body, either GM or BBK, although I am sure the kit can be modified to work with other cable TBs. TV Kit available here http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=225 |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Unfortunately these are the only pics i have of my TV setup. The kit bolted up perfectly to the BBK TB but i had to fabricate a throttle cable/TV cable bracket because the bracket provided in the kit only works on the GM car intakes.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
hi Guys! My name's Kevin. I'm from S-seriesforum.com and was looking for more information on this 5.3 swap. Glad to be a part of the site! I was just wondering about the wiring. What did you have to do to tie in the V8PCM to work with a 4.3 or stock truck BCM? did you have to cut/splice/modify wires to get the ignition key to work/radio/etc? Thanks for the help!

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
its just the engine harness and ECM. as far as i know, it will plug into the underhood fuse relay box on the right side. everything will work like it did stock; its a true plug-and-play harness.
