*new* need a little help on a 6.0l build

i will introduce my self first...
my name is thomas manghelli and i live in mississippi,
i just finished building a turboed 2002 ford svt lightning and it made 719rwhp & 756rwtq on pump gas (93) and one month after completion the shop it was in burned to the ground (i did not have insurance........ stupid me but i was not driving the truck for 8 months) now i am gonna try to build something a little cheaper and hopefully faster with better fuel economy....lol
anyway here are a few pics of my lightning BEFORE and AFTER

i will be starting my build as soon as i find a single cab s10/sonoma...lol

i already have a 6.0l iron block with all forged internals and a ls6 crank, 317 heads ported with 30 thousands off, and a complete ls6 intake, along with a built 4l60e and all the wiring and computer out of a wrecked trans am!!!

what all will i NEED TO KNOW before i start...

the main thing that i want to do is keep AC and power strering.....O yea and low 10's high 9's!!!

Re: *new* need a little help on a 6.0l build

The older '82-93 trucks weigh less, 2800lbs is easily attainable in those. My first one was 2880lbs with V8. The only weight savers were a fiberglass hood and roll pan.

Good Luck on your build. By the way, are you sure the truck didn't start the fire? Ford had lots of recalls for the criuse control switches starting fires

LOL 450RWHP to Go 10's oh how I wish. do the math on 132MPH and 4000lbs

To the original poster, sorry about your truck man that is terribly heart breaking. My truck is a real 4000LBS but as 99 Bucket mentioned its full weight, stereo, subs, A/C cruise, Heat, 9", Cage, Bedliner, Spare tire all that crap.

Looking forward to seeing a build. Best of luck dude.

um i'm not that good with math but my lightning with 719rwhp @ 4500lbs went 10's@133mph so i'm guessing you have in the low to mid 600's????

how hard is it to get a 6liter s10 into the low 10's??? fuel injected and keep good drivability???

Not Very difficult with the right package I would say. Still kicking down 26-27mpg Highway on mine right now. Smallish cam and a healthy turbo.

what size turbo are you running? and is there anyway i can see GOOD pictures of your turbo setup...(i have been searching but that could go in for hours..lol)

if my money allows me i would LOVE to do a turbo on this project but if it doesn't i guess i will just use the bottle

what transmission, injectors, and pumps are you using?

Bottle works too. I was going 10.60's on bottle with the same motor setup last year but it was 11.2:1 instead of the dished piston I have now.

My transmission is a Finishline Level 5 4L60E with billet output shaft, parts supplied by Finishline and assembled by me.

Currently running Motron 60#'s , Fuel pump is stock 2.2L Flex fuel pump. I found the end of it though... Wont do 15psi

I have never posted any pics of the setup on the truck. I havent really gotten any good ones. I have some that arent so great of it when it was pretty dirty under there. I will have to upload and send them to you.

Not sure if your aware but my setup is rear mounted.

6.0L Punched .030" over. So its a 370 Cube motor. I am running a Custom 2bar Speed Density operating system on the stock computer so I dont run a MAF. Slock LS1 rails. By the math its flirting with the 700 range to do what its doing. I should really take some time to get it on the dyno again, been busy at the shop though and fitting personal stuff on hasnt been easy... Although my vibe made 109RWHP LOL

stock rails...WOW

ok i thought a 6.0l was 370 cube (i have a lot to learn) or is there a difference in aluminun and iron block cubes?? i have a iron block with 317 casting heads ported and 30 thousands taken off for higher compression (i wouldn't had done that but got the whole setup SUPER cheap) the short block is all forged with flat top pistons w/ valve reliefs, i also have a ls6 intake with stock f-body throttle body and fuel rails....

what would you do with this setup..(change heads or pistons and turbo it or leave it alone and turbo it or just leave it be and spay the shit out of it..lol) this will be a STREET TRUCK with drag truck suspention.. ok ok maybe a drag truck with a/c and power stearing and over drive...LMAO

Well I say hammer the shit outta it with the bottle and Current Performance's New Longtubes you should be laughing.

The Iron and Alum 6.0's are very much the same. they are 364 cubes in stock trim.
