New bumper = sexy sleeper
hated the stock front bumper. Removed plastic lower half, cut upper metal part in half, extended it 6" !!! Simple as that.
So this was the original bumper: ![]() This was the photoshop plan: ![]() This is how it came out: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() AND THE MUG SHOT! ![]() Last edited by turbobandit : 10-26-2009 at 07:23 PM. |

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
Drop it till the tires are even with the fenders and that would be one damn good looking truck. Like the bumper also, just feel it would draw it all together better if it were a tad lower with a slightly raked stance

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
I had it lowered before... Rear axle hit the frame all the time on bumps, and front rode like $ H I T! So i raised it up again. I'd rather not sacrifice drivability for looks. |

It looks pretty cool but I think it would look better with radius corners. The sharp angles just look out of place with all the curved lines on a 2nd gen.

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
You did a good job building it, but right now it looks out of place, the intercooler will probably help or it needs something to the left and right of the mesh. Looks like too much empty space there imo. Otherwise you did a great job on it.

More I look at it I agree, some 4 inch round driving lights would look good over to the sides. |

Bumper looks pretty good I agree with it needing flog lights or something but it looks pretty sweet and the grille is proportioned nicely with the bumper grille. You ever get that wiring issue figured out?

i was thinking the same last nite. but use a billet grill. whole point was to install a short but long innercooler rather then hiding between the radiator and support.

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
I just looked at the pictures and half-read the text and thought, "Wow, it really does look better with the stock one on it"... Then I re-read it.
I like what's under the hood and the rest of the truck, but I think that bumper's doing you a disservice. It's got no lines that make it look like it belongs on the truck. It looks like a boxy afterthought from the parts bin. IMHO a red stock bumper or even a Bravada bumper in red would probably be a lot better of a choice if "sleeper" is truly the theme you're going for. |

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
this is a STOCK bumper!!!!! how does it not have s10 lines? all i did was extend it 6" All the body guys go for CLEAN looks. shaved emblems, tailgates, roll pans... So i take off the crappy plastic front bumper, and extend the stock one: something more simple... and people say it's ugly? hahahha. You guys are nuts. MY TRUCK.. i love it. Reminds me of a NASCAR truck |

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
You might have extended a stock one, but like I said, there's no lines in it that fit/flow with the rest of the truck now. It's constructive criticism, learn to take it. If I wanted to be blunt, I'd say it looks like you glued a red box to the front of your truck and it sticks out like a sore thumb the way it is now. |

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
Two of my past GM trucks came with fog lights from the factory. I don't understand how that makes them ricey? Now I don't like some of these aftermarket fog lights that you can pick up at Autozone which people just throw on.

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
definitely cant wait to see the corners, I threw this together comparing body lines
![]() Black housing FTW ![]() Definitely looks clean though, but with some corners/adjustment it will be very unique PS get some SS mirrors on that thing, and it will make a big difference. Also digging the wheels C5 Wagons ftw Although with that opening I do beleive you lose getting some air to radiator, unless you kept the stock duct that feeds are from the license plate? Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
^ HUH?!?!?! an air dam??? there was nothing behind the bumper from the factory. A bigger hole would give it BETTER air flow!!!! Plus... INTERCOOLER is going behind this grill this weekend.
haha, gosh people dont read. i AM going to radius the corners of the grill opening. Look at the original photoshop! To those who like it, thanks. ~People here say it looks rice, THEN they say to put Huge round recessed fog lights in it... ~People say it's too PLAIN, yet alot of these s10 guys shave door handles, tailgates, and put simple roll pans on. ~People say it doesn't have S10 lines, yet the curves are S10 curves cuz it's an s10 bumper! (minus the temporary grill corners) It is a sleeper... no one expects an LS1 with a 6 speed, 3.73 gears, and a turbo to be in an S10. And it's sexy, cuz it's a sexy truck now. |

Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
haha man what asshats.
Yeah I am one of the few who read, I said ,"cant wait to see the corners" lol, I think it doesn't look very S10ish because the body lines don't match, other than the ones you didn't fabricate. but like you said there's still work to be done. IMO I would try to recess it in a little, so it looks like the corners of the grille. I think the bottom needs to do something, like go in/out ![]() See how the lines of the SS bumper go straight down too? I don't really like how that looks . . . The inner lines you used where the airdam used to meet up look cool, I always was trying to think of a way to use that when I working on my truck with the airdam off also you should make it sit like a good 3/4" higher so it sits flush with the grille shell and less of a gap to the fender Also behind my bumper, there is an airduct that shoves air into teh radiator from the license plate area, I guess not on yours. Re: New bumper = sexy sleeper
Just more food for thought - I would make sure the hole seals really nice against the intercooler, otherwise you're just putting more air under the car which equals bad aerodynamics
you could also run brakes ducts . . ., some long thin ones that fit in the bottom raised part of the bumper might look nice, Last edited by Daveman2 : 10-28-2009 at 01:06 AM. |
