Re: need help wiring up LS1painless harness

The easiest way I could think of would be to swap the shifter shaft from the original transmission (where the shifter connects) to the LS1 trans. along with the park/neutral switch from the original trans. Then cut the larger gray connector from the old harness. Just use the wire in Pin A (If no wire, just move one of the others) and splice that wire to the orn/blk wire you have.
That switch would need to be mounted really weird on the side of the tranny in order to do what it needs to do.
one easy redneck way would be to just put a toggle switch in the engine compartment and click it off when you put the truck in to drive. Use the 2 wires from the painless harness as they show.

The shaft comes out with a couple of screws, but you have to pull the pan off in order to get to them.
The gray plug was on the 4.3 harness, I was hoping you still had it. Might try a junkyward to get one, they are used on the full size trucks as well.
Pin A on the shift switch is the top plug, outside upper most pin.

I hate to say it, but if you didn't want to "rig" anything up, the painless harness was probably not the route to go with that new of a vehicle.

Well, if all you are after is the connector and a wire to plug in to the switch and splice in to, I can send you one free of charge. I just need a mailing address.

Re: need help wiring up LS1painless harness

I cut it off of another harness I had and stuck it in an envelope, it will be in the mail tomorrow, not sure how long it will take the USPS to get it to you.
Not sure what more to tell you about the shaft, I didn't think it was all that tough.
