I think it's evaporative emissions......could be wrong though.

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

Its the purge solenoid/valve. It is an evaporative emmisions device. It is connected to a line that runs from your gas tank to your intake. The valve opens and allows gas fumes from your gas tank to be burnt in the engine.

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

The pictured intake is an aftermarket factory replacement, that has a three bolt throttle body. Im 100% sure thats the Purge Valve/Solenoid on that intake.

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

Holds them in, if you dont have a vent tube. Or releases them to atmospherse if you have a vent.

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

yes it is part of emissions, if it's not on there it can also cause the tank pressure to be out of spec and then throw another code for that... and yes you do need it if you are in a emissions required area... you can always relocate it to another part of the intake, it does not have to be right there. just be sure where ever you put it it's sealed up good.

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

it has to have that Purge Valve/Solenoid on it doesn't it? or can it just be a hose from the canister to the the hole in the intake?

Re: name that sensor/vlave!

That's probably what it is and the purge is located near or inside the cannister. You can take it all off depending on what your state's emission standards are.
