my nightmare 56K death
i bought a complete 05 5.3/4l60e combo with 11k miles, and was going to put it in my 02 s10, then bought the blazer with a blown intake gasket(coolant in oil) and the fun began
night i picked the blazer up ![]() and tearing it apart ![]() torn apart ![]() starting fresh ![]() some por15 ![]() mmm suspension parts ![]() few parts installed ![]() ls1 brakes ![]() ls1 brakes painted ![]() 01 z06 wheels ![]() ford 8.8, i found out the 2dr blazer sway bar wont clear the 8.8 pumpkin ![]() knuckels and hubs ready to go on ![]() doing the 98+ dash swap(keeping the old school front end) ![]() as she sits now(i'm flipping the hydrobooter later, and painting the rest of the frame) ![]() the engine, the night i got it, concealed 5.3 ![]() nice picture of how nice my garage was befor the blazer showed up ![]() torn down ![]() ![]() ![]() as for the question i know are coming, yes it's going to be 2wd, and i might go awd later. and if anyone wants to trade their ls2 pan kit for a h3 alpha pan kit let me know, mine is brand new, just installed it never ran it. |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
those control arms are sick...are you planning on reinforcing the shock towers? do you think they will really drop 100lbs from the truck? torsion bars are pretty heavy...plus the crossmember...so i guess id believe that.
what about engine mounts, you going to fab those? finally, how are you planning on mounting the LS1 brake hardware? end of questions for now lol Last edited by Kampz69 : 03-30-2009 at 04:18 PM. |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
i don't know if it is really 100 lbs, i would say 80 is pretty beliveable, but i haven't put aything on a scale so i don't know. and i don't really care enought to go out and buy one to find out. but i know the kit shipped to me was 35 lbs the motor mounts i'm going to use are from turbotime http://www.turbotime.us/Ecatatlog/MotorMounts.htm and the ls1 brake hardware. http://cbrperformance.com/syclone.php?Category=Syclone |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
not really much gone on. i ordered my mounts and headers from CPW, i figure all the 2wd stuff should work with out the 4x4x stuff in the way.
got the rear end all purdy. all ready to go back in just waiting on the axles which are getting redrilled and come back monday. ![]() springs for the coil overs come wendsday so with any luck the truck will be rolling around again by next weekend nothing really changed up front, abs delete is still kicking my ass ![]() painted the frame, need to go over it again ![]() got my dash, harness and other odds and ends for the 98+ harness and dash swap ![]() |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
my original plan was coil overs with the stock control arms, because i wanted it pretty low and the torsion bars would make it ride like shit, and they made changing the fuel filter a PITA. but i bent the hell out of one of the uppers tring to press new bushings in them so i got the tubular ones. |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
trial and error. the part numbers for a 4.3 2wd and 4wd mounts are the same, so i'm just guessing the 4x4 lsx mounts are for clearing the front axle, as far was the headers there is nothing that i see that is any differeant than a 2wd, so we will see... |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
And what hydroboost is that? Do you plan on putting those 98+ door panels in too? From what I understand that is a PITA

Re: my nightmare 56K death
it is a PITA the older style doors don't have the provisions for the 98+ door pannels. so seeing as the dr. side door has huge dent in it and both of them have worn window regulators, i was just going to buy some 98+ doors for it. |

Re: my nightmare 56K death
anyone know much about the 5 speeds that came behind the 4.8/5.3l
i found one from an 04 silverado 4.8 and i am thinking about going 5spd, no i don't want to go t56 because they are reatrdedly expensive and heavy. how much of a PITA is it going to be.. |
