Manual 2 Auto

I am gathering parts for my 03 2.2 5spd to swap in a 5.3 and 4l60e. Will I need to get a master cylinder from a automatic s10? What else would I have to swap/switch/modify?

I am going to be using a cpw wiring harness as well.

Re: Manual 2 Auto

Nothing really. Just make a plate to cover the hole in the floor for the shifter, auto trans crossmember, make a blockoff plate for where the slave cylinder attached to the firewall, and remove the clutch pedal, and that is it really.

Re: Manual 2 Auto

Just curious, but what is the difference between the auto and manual crossmember? I tried a 4.3 auto crossmember and it was farther from fitting than my 2.2 5 speed crossmember.

They made so many different types of crossmembers for these truck. You just have to find one that works. I bought one for an 02 s10 4.3 auto and it worked fine on my 95. It had the lower exhaust notch

Re: Manual 2 Auto

The gauge cluster will also need to be changed unless you do the floor shift console...Since the manual's cluster doesn't display the gear selection...But of course this is just a option since the truck will still work without displaying the gear...It will look more factory like this way though..So either floor shift console conversion and keep the 2.2 cluster...or on the column with a different auto cluster...The cool thing about the 2.2 cluster is that it has a 7K Tach...

The big differances b etween them is where they mount on the passenger side of the frame and where the exhaust passes by them. On a 2.2 the exhaust goes under the crossmember and on a 4.3 it goes over it. I ended up putting the 2.2 crossmember back in the truck, since it gave the exhaust more room to pass

Re: Manual 2 Auto

So I got a center console with shifter out of a bravada today. I got the full console, shifter, and the cable running to the transmission. I also grabbed the small wire harness that runs from it to behind the plastic tray under the dash, is there the hookup behind my dash? What does it control? There were two plugs going to the shifter, I figured one was the lights, and the other was a park/neutral safety?

Re: Manual 2 Auto

i dont think youll have the plug under the dash, that was only found in some blazers. i was lucky, it was in mine when i swapped in my floor shift console so the wiring was easy, though i did have to repin the plug/connector. if you dont have the plug under the dash youll have to wire it yourself.
