LS6 intake?
Well the time has come and I am getting ready to purchase a different intake and TB for my 05 5.3 The motor is not in the truck yet so now is the time. When goin to a LS6 intake I have heard there is clearance issues with the truck water pump and idler pulley, what can be done for this. Also what about coolant crossover tubes? Is there anything else I need to know when putting an LS6 intake on a 5.3? I will be getting a complete intake manifold assembly.(intake, fuel rails, injectors, 75mm TB, map sensor, and mounting hardware)

That should be stickied on here. Also if you're keeping the truck accessories you would be wise to get the L92 water pump because it's a direct bolt on solution. The thought of sliding the pulley halfway forward on an LS1/LS2 pump is rerally half ass and nearly impossible to do. |

Re: LS6 intake?
Whats your budget? I love the FAST manifolds, Ive had the LSX 92mm and just got the 102mm LSXR LS3 manifold and it looks like thier 102mm Cathedral truck intake should be coming out soon too!

Re: LS6 intake?
Man if only I didnt have a budget, that FAST intake would look good under my hood, maybe someday. Where is a good place to get that L92 water pump, I assume it is a lower profile pump that still uses the truck acc. belt alignment?

Re: LS6 intake?
Run your stock MAF and stock 75mm Throttle body. Did your engine come with a MAF, PCM, and throttle body??
The truck MAFs are bigger than the F-body style, the LS6 takes a 75mm TB, and the stock 05 PCM &TB are drive by wire. |

Re: LS6 intake?
My engine has the DBW TB but no PCM or MAF. and when I go with the LS6 intake I will just run the 75mm Cable TB that comes with the intake. Now for the MAF I would need one from a 05 5.3 or a LS6 type from a Vette, I assume there are different in size? And for the PCM I will be having Jared do all my wiring and PCM programming so the DBW and all the other nonsense will be taking off whatever PCM I get which I assume I will just get one from an 05 5.3 correct?

Re: LS6 intake?
As far as I understand the Vette and the Truck MAFs are the same, the F-bodies got the small MAFs.
I run drive by wire, its really not as bad as people make it out to be. People fear change, especially when there is no where to stick their screwdriver anymore. Anyways, if you want to run a cable operated throttle body, you need a 2002 or earlier PCM that didnt run DBW. Youll also have to tell Jared what throttle body your running and he will make your harness accordingly(along with some information on sensors). I think he has PCMs too and can hook you up with one with a nice tune installed already! He will need to know what MAF your running for the tune. Last edited by SweetS10V8 : 10-17-2009 at 02:05 PM. |
