Ls3

hi guys I am planning on dropping in a ls3 in one of my dimes, I have not decided which one yet but they are a regular cab step side with the tutu 5 speed, then the other one is a Extended cab Step side Xtreme with the 4.3 auto, if I would decided to drop it in the 2.2 I would run the t56, but the 4.3 would I be better off to get the 4l60 rebuilt or update to a 4l65. the next thing would be the mounts, I don’t have a problem cutting the frame on the 2.2 because it needs a new right frame rail anyway, but the Xtreme I would rather do as less permanent modifications as possible, so I will defiantly run the alpha pan. now as I have read and looked at other peoples experience’s it would be safe to say if you run brp headers run brp mounts, cpw headers, run cpw mounts since those were the mounts the headers were designed around. The next thing would be the drive train, would I be better off rebuilding the 7.625" or putting in a ford 9", and as far as traction I will probably use cal tracks and a 315/45/19. It will receive a brake upgrade, either z06 brakes or equivalent. Cooling I will use Jared’s setup and his wiring harness along with the ac relocation bracket. I just need shot in the right direction on how I should go about this and what parts I should start gathering first, this build won’t begin until summer because I am in college right now. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Ls3

I have a LS3.

I used Carshop Inc motor mounts. Hedman Hedders. I built my 4l60 with parts from http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...oducts_id/1031
I have a 2003 Blazer 8.5 rear. I used c6 vette acessories. Since I have a Blazer I used a truck oil pan. Used a stock radiator custom e-fans.Fuel i used blazer lower bucket, camaro upper sending unit, racetronix fbody pump, that way I have a fuel pressure regulator. I also use a 99 newer full size truck fuel filter and a few an fittings to make all my lines work.Last I have a factory fbody line and evap at fuel rail so it really looks factory up top. If im forgetting anything look at my sig.

Re: Ls3

Since Blazer motor mounts are an inch higher then s10 mounts I had to modify the #6 primary on the pass side under the heater box. On an s10 there should be no modification at all.

I did notch my frame for the a/c and the cross member for the oil pan.

Show a pic of your modification on the #6 primary? Are you talking about just the heater box or the fire wall(or both)? because i know you have to cut the heater box .Or is there more moding I didnt see that on others lsx blazers.
thanks

My firewall and heater box did not have to be modified. I gues that has to with the mounts i used. I used the carshop ones. The hedman #6 primary came straight out like 4 inches then angled down. I cut some of the staight out and just notched the lower section of the primary bent it whole tube over. I added a lil half tube pie looking piece to the notch, and then welded the top of primary back up wasnt too bad. I dont know where my camera is right now for the pics. Anyone with the skills to put an LSx in an S10 to weld the frame and should have the skills to do it. If I get a chance to find the camera then I get a pic up.
